UO Thursday

I appreciate the Thankful Thursday thread but....I also like to hear a good unpopular opinion every now and again, so let's hear em!

Mine is probably not super unpopular in these parts, but seems to be in the real world.
I'm almost 37 weeks pregnant and pretty much every day I hear "I bet you can't wait to be done with your pregnancy" or "I bet you're ready for the baby to come out!"
I'm not. I am SUPER excited to meet this little guy, but I'd really like him to stay put about 2 more weeks or so. I'm still commuting to work for another week, we need to do more work on his room, and I just don't honestly think HE's ready to come yet. Stop rushing the process people!

  • My UO? I don't like Target, I'd rather go to Meijer any day of the week.

I don't know Meijer! I want to go though!
  • Everyone says not to watch labor videos. UO, I love them. They actually make me feel better about the process, more prepared. They're all so different, yet the smiles on people's faces afterwards is always so reassuringly beautiful.
That's really sweet. We watched a childbirth video a few weeks ago and while neither of us were a huge fan of parts of it, my husband said he loved it because after the birth, they showed the dad interacting with the baby and it made him SO excited.
  • UO here, but I can't stand when people keeping calling their/whoever's baby "baby girl" as if that is their name. Yes, it is technically a baby in the beginning and a girl, but she has a name. And after the baby stage, she is no longer a baby so that nickname doesn't even fit anymore. "Good Morning baby girl", "Come here baby girl", "Thats my baby girl". My friend's sister calls both of her nieces "baby girl" and they are 5 and 8. Drives me bananas!

I love Meijer!! They have everything! Come to the Midwest and see! :)
  • My UO: I'm not a bacon fan. If I ever need it for something I buy that yellow box kind that you just put in the microwave for 10 seconds. I hate that it makes my house reek of bacon for the whole day, and I hate cleaning up the grease!

I feel like it coats everything around the kitchen for days afterwards. Turkey bacon doesn't do it as bad and I actually like the taste more.

To all of you that hate dealing with the grease, I line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper, turn my oven on to 400 and bake it! It's great, no grease splatters anywhere, you don't have to flip it and it still comes out nice and crunchy. It takes a while though, about 25 minutes but that's how DH and I prefer to cook our bacon :)

ETA: clean up is a breeze too, just chunk the parchment paper. The pan is still clean!

My UO is I'm not a Rhonda Rousey fan. People love her and I can't really figure out why. She was  a co anchor on Sports Center yesterday and she seems so awkward and full of herself. She also dropped the ending to GoT which I'm sure a lot of people don't know yet. I'm also not a fan of people beating each other up until they tap out so that contributes to my confusion too. Seems so barbaric to me.

Agreed! I don't like bacon. This my UO last week. Ha ha I make it for my husband, and I jeep trying it, but I don't think I'll ever like it.

I am so sick and tired of people commenting on every single thing I do at work. If I go in the kitchen, someone says "ooooh baby must be hungry!!" or "what does baby want mommy to eat??" If I go to the bathroom I hear "baby has to go! Run mommy run!" Anytime I walk by anyone they say "that baby is going to fall out any day now". Well, I am 34 weeks so I sure hope not but thanks. I am not a circus display. Please move on!
This. I'm so glad I'm not the only one dealing with this.

OMG shut your filthy mouth!! I could live off of bacon!! It is pure deliciousness! The grease is a total PITA though.
@LSRoo You took the words right out of my mouth!!! As for the mess I cook mine in the oven, on tin foil, then I pour the grease in a jar...I have a huge mason jar with bacon grease on my counter, and it makes me happy.

Ugh. Seriously? I think I would throat punch them. How annoying.
  • A lot of ppl I know are pregnant/just had babies. I don't get picking a baby name, telling everyone and then changing it once the baby is born. It's strange.
  • Bacon is God's gift to us all.  Every meal can be enhanced by bacon.  Fact.

I am DONE with prodromal labor.  I have been up twice this week in the middle of the night with crampy contractions every 5 minutes for over an hour.  Two nights ago it lasted almost 2 hours.  This is my 3rd baby so I knew they should be getting stronger so I didn't go to LD.  I saw my midwife yesterday and I am 2 cm dilated but she doesn't think the false labor means early delivery.  Baby is still somewhat high and not engaged.  I am only 36 weeks so the thought of another 4 weeks of false labor makes me stabby.

You never know.  We had two names picked out for our 2nd daughter, one I really loved the entire pregnancy.  Once she was born and we saw her sweet face, the name did not fit her at all.  The 2nd name that wasn't my favorite during the pregnancy instantly became perfect for her.  We have several names picked out and will name this 3rd girl once we see her.
  • My UO is that I love black jelly beans. I love that nobody else wants to eat them and they are all left for me.

I'm with you! Have you ever had black licorice ice cream? Deeelish!

  • UO, at this stage in the game, I hate all food. Literally thinking of food makes me sick to my stomach.
Except for chocolate pudding... I want to eat my weight in chocolate pudding.

This was me last night too!!! I'm 36 tomorrow and I'm stabby when people say Oooh it won't be long maybe this week, but I'm also stabby at the thought of it not being this week! Haha. I have so much on at the moment, I could do with this kid sticking around until November BUT I can't be up every bloody night like last night. I have MW tomorrow so I'm going to ask her to check my cervix. They don't typically do it in the UK at routine appointments but I kinda wanna know if these contractions are just nature being mean or it's actually doing something (dilating or effacing, I'm ok with either!?)

My UO (and apologies as I know I will offend many here)...I HATE cats.  Love dogs and other animals, but boy do I hate cats.  My ILs are away for the next 2 weeks and want DH or me to stop by and tend to their cats.  Ewwww... no!

Ha ha ha I love cats, and pretty much all the animals. We have two (and two dogs), my husband has a love hate relationship with them. Though last night he had a bad dream.... It was that I had gotten 3 more cats. He was so mad!
  • I also think that mashed potatoes are disgusting. And tank tops on men. No no no.
