My 4 1/2month old boy will not stay sleep at night for longer than 1 hour and half. He sleeps in a pack n play and is EBF. I try to nurse him when he's not in daycare. He usually goes to be around 8:30-9:00 pm. Lately he's been falling asleep around 7:30 or so and will wake up about 8:30-8:45pm and will take forever to go back to sleep. Any tips on getting a regular night routine and getting him to sleep longer. He was swaddled up until 1 month ago and not he's having a hard time adjusting.
Re: How to get 4 1/2 baby boy to sleep at night
I've read other discussions regarding sleep training & the 4mo sleep regression and the most common is having a consistent bedtime routine, bedtime, and nap times. As for keeping him asleep, it may depend on how you put him to sleep. Do you put him down asleep or awake but drowsy? I've read that the key is to be awake but drowsy. And when he wakes, how you react is a big part, too. Rather than picking him up right away, try just shhh-ing and patting his bottom or let him cry a little at a time. If he doesn't stop fussing then pick up, settle him, and put him back down and repeat. Like PP 10 minutes is a good time limit. It will take quite a few tries during the night & may take a couple days for him to get used to.
I say 'I've read' these things instead of them being my own suggestions because DD and I still bed-share.
