Overdid things post c section?

Any ladies feel they may have overdone activity post c section? I am 5 weeks out and have very sore muscles and hips. I went for a hike yesterday and have been trying more things without my support girdle. Worried I may have injured something. Any one have prior experience and can tell me if soreness and mild pain this far out is normal after activity?

Re: Overdid things post c section?

  • I'll be 6 weeks on Saturday and I'm right there with ya. I started back at the gym this week, and even though I took it really easy I'm pretty sore. Just ready to be myself again.

  • I have a feeling I've started off too active, only 4 days out. I was up a lot today doing stuff and even took baby out for a walk, and at night I'm crawling out of bed repeatedly to get LO to feed and pee, etc. I'm still pretty sore but with meds I don't feel that terrible. Just worried that's a bad precedent to set so now everyone will think I'm fine and dandy and can be on my feet most of the day. I know I need to rest more it's just hard!
  • I'm almost 6 weeks out, and I still have occasional aches and pains. Not only when I over do it, I think things are still going back in place.

  • I'm almost 6 weeks out and just started get pain like the first week all over again. I didn't think I was overdoing it but I guess it's possible. Just sitting up and laying down is really hard on my incision site. Then, this morning my two year old climbed in bed with us and kneed me right at my incision. Ugh!
  • Same here. Haven't worked out yet. But I was in pain yesterday that I ended up taking an ibuprofen. I'm 6wks postpartum as well, and my incision started to bug me now as if it were the first week. What the heck.
  • Glad I'm not alone! Maybe the healing process goes this way around week 6...
  • I'm 4 weeks postpartum and I know I'm doing too much but it's unavoidable being at home with a 3yo that has endless energy, and needs daily outings to keep him from going crazy!  I find not being able to carry the car seat the worst it makes everything take twice as long when I have to keep taking the baby out of the car seat and put him into the carrier!  The only time I feel "normal" is when I'm having a hot shower!
  • Oh lord, lovely. Update- I came home from the hospital 2 days ago with Tylenol +codeine and was feeling okay yesterday but really itchy for some reason. Come last night my whole body was covered in an inflamed itchy rash. Definitely a reaction to the codeine :( so I'm off them now until I can get back to the doctor for something different. So much fun!
  • I'm 3.5 weeks past my c section and start last week with some stretching. Holy moly am I off balance!

We went for our first walk today. Mentally, I was ready to run, but I know I can't push myself like that. We got a good walk in and I'm using my Fitbit to slowly increase how far I'm walking each day before I start running and hitting yoga again.
  • Im 5 weeks too and I feel like this time to time. If I have to run a lot of errands one day I'll be sooo sore the next. My husband and I were spontaneously intimate for the first time last night and now my entire body aches!
  • I'm the same way-- my incision didn't bother me much at all in the beginning, but 3.5 weeks out and it has been hurting the past couple of days! My tailbone and back have been the worst of my pain, and I can tell when I've done too much in a day. Once the pain comes LO and I have a lazy day and it helps so much!! I'm so ready to be back to my old self.
  • I definitely over did it. I'm 5 weeks out and just noticed yesterday that my incision is still bleeding a little. I felt really good after this csection and didn't follow dr orders at all. I was driving the day after my discharge and carrying the car seat, not to mention hauling a 2.5 year old around who doesn't understand that mommy isn't supposed to lift him. I don't know how we're expected to take it easy for a few weeks when our spouses have to return to work and we have older kids to tend to and ferry back and forth to school, activities, etc.
  • Overdid it yesterday as well. I'm 5 weeks post csection and went for a walk with LO in ergo baby carrier and felt great outside during buy last night I couldn't walk straight and today incision hurts and feel swollen. Ugh!
