Intro

Just wanted to say hey. I'm not sure how active the board is but I thought I would try. My wife and I decided to start trying to have s baby at the beginning of September. We have decided to go iui with donor sperm. I've had to go through some testing and found out I'm insulin resistant and now I'm on metformin. During my next cycle I have to go for a hsg test which sounds like fun (the Dr said it would feel like I was being punched in the stomach) if everything is good with that then we will be trying our iui in my Nov cycle. I would love to hear where everyone is at.

@sparklelee hi there, this board doesn't seem to be too active but i do hobble over here everysooften. I spend a lot of my time on the infertility board. My wife and I started trying in August with an at home iui (which was probably very poorly timed, but we wanted to try for sentimental reasons at home). At the time i wasn't aware that my PCOS may fluctuate my hormone levels so much as to give a positive LH surge even if i wasn't about to ovulate. That cycle ended up changing from 28 days to 33 days so we decided to meet with an RE to get my cycles monitored and make sure that iui are well timed. I am currently waiting for AF to start a medicated cycle this month.

I also was on Metformin a couple of years to regulate my cycle because of insulin resistance. It was the first time that my cycles ever regulated since i started getting AF...it was amazing to me lol. Its been about a year and a half since i stopped taking it and i fortunately have semi regulated 28-35day cycles as oppose to a cycle once or twice a year.

I got an HSG done last month...it wasn't horrible but definately not pleaaant. I had a lot of cramping during the procedure and heavy discharge for about an hour after. Then spotted for about 2 days. Upside, the procedure was very quick and it was kinda cool to see the liquid glow within my uterus and flow through the fallopian tubes. Carry pads that day and don't use tampons, minimizes chance of infection. GL with all of your tests and iuis. Are you seeing an RE to help? Will you be on any meds?
