Diaper Rash

My LO has a pretty bad diaper rash it appeared last week was almost gone and has now flared up again. We are wiping his bum with warm wet clothes instead of wipes and using penaten cream on it. But it just looks so sore. It doesn't seem to bother him too much when we clean his bum but it's just so red I feel pain

Re: Diaper Rash

  • My son had a little rash when we went to the doctors. She didn't tell me what brand of cream to use but she did tell me to put it on like frosting on a cake. So if you aren't doing that maybe try it? I was using Boudreauxs butt paste and it cleared up that day

  • The cream we have we put on thick and the rash was almost gone then Saturday it flared up again.
  • Burt's Bee's diaper rash cream has always worked the best for me.
  • I'd ask the Pedi if it doesn't clear up or keeps coming back.
  • Maybe try coconut oil. My friend's daughter had a bad rash and coconut oil was the only thing that cleared it up
  • The health nurse is coming out tomorrow so she will have a look at and then I will see where to go from there. It looks better again today I left his bum out during tummy time to let it get some air
  • I use Shea butter at home and I keep Boudreaux in the diaper bag. They both worked for us.
  • Plain zinc oxide always works for me I get it at Walmart in the first aid section. It is the main ingredient in most butt creams but 1/2 the price and no extra additives.
  • Our pedi suggested just rinsing baby off if they have a big poop explosion, because the skin on their butts is so thin and sensitive. So maybe try that and just pat gently with a wipe or wet cloth if you need something extra. Diaper cream - slather on like frosting a cake.
