Usually you would have a procedure to remove number 2 before labor or you ll drink some castor oil so when you are ready you will not have any extra discomfort . I am surprised to find so many not having such procedure done beforehand.

I would rather poop during delivery than drink castor oil! Labor is uncomfortable enough without that!
@UptownPearl if you have an epidural, you'll have a catheter, so you won't have to pee. I don't know about pooping. If you're med free (and presumably on other pain meds, though I'm not sure), you just go. With my twins I had monitors and an IV, unfortunately, so I had to ask permission and be unhooked. The nurse wanted to come in with me when I wanted to poop to make sure I didn't push a baby out. I said no.
This time, I shouldn't need continuous monitoring or an IV so I'm pretty stoked to have control over when and in front of whom I use the toilet.
I think I may have went some while I was pushing, I felt the nurse put a colder wet rag over my bottom for a few seconds then wiped down and threw it in the bucket that catches all the fluids and stuff. I didn't ask I didn't want to know, my husband wasn't looking down there except when the doc told him to see the babies head coming out. So the nurses and docs can just keep that between them.
