Just wondering if anyone planned to change into PJ's after delivery. Part of me says they'll be more comfy than a gown and the other part of me says don't bother dummy lol
I'm not bothering, personally. I do have some yoga pants in my hospital bag if I want them, but knowing me I'd probably just rather stay in the ugly awkward hospital gown rather than risk my own clothes with postpartum bleeding. But the way I see it, if you think you might want some PJs, it doesn't hurt to bring them. If you don't wear them, oh well. It's an easy enough game day decision.
Yes, I think I will - at least for when people come to see the baby. I have no idea what kind though. I'm having a planned c-sec and have no idea how uncomfortable I may be or what access the nurses will need to my lady parts. Maybe I should just buy one of those fancy hospital gowns, LOL.

I probably won't. I didn't last time but I brought yoga pants and a nursing tank in case. I lost a lot of blood and was pretty weak last time but I might change my mind if I feel better this time.
I thought I would want to change but I didn't change until almost 24 hours after delivery bc you are a mess... That's a nice way of saying it lol... Bring comfortable pants though bc you will not want to wear anything right for sure
I have a nursing nightgown packed that I got for super cheap and an old robe that I don't care about. If they get wrecked, they get wrecked. That is, if I even have the energy to change, which I'm not betting on. I'm (irrationally) more nervous about having the right clothes/sizes packed for LO.
Me: 28, DH: 40 Married 9/28/13 DS born 11/12/15 EDD 8/13/18
I hate hospital gowns, so I packed some yoga pants & nursing tanks to wear afterwards if I'm feeling up for it.
The gowns are very uncomfortable and I always get twisted up in them. I take nursing tanks and yoga pants and a hoodie. Just more comfortable for me. I have wanted to change both times. I would suggest black pants they don't stain if you have some issues with post partum bleeding.

We went out and bought 2 new pairs of black comfy pants, nursing tanks and a short black hooded robe. I am packing them, if I don't use them, no harm but hospital gowns suck so I want the option of having something comfortable if possible.
I plan on buying one more pair of cheap fleece Walmart PJs with the button tops because if it costs less than $20 and I bleed/lactate/insert mystery bodily fluid whatever all over it, I don't care. I'll just trash it. I'm on the lookout for nursing tanks and a robe though.
Question for repeat offenders - if I have a zip up hoodie that was rather loose on me pre-pregnancy, am I being too presumptuous in thinking it will fit again in the hospital? I have a feeling I am.
I stayed in the gown, but I had heavy PP bleeding. Let's just say my hospital room bathroom kind of smelled like a meat packing plant and leave it at that. If you plan on BF, they're also kind of nice because they snap open around your breasts.
@thegingeravenger: Even though I obviously didn't instantly lose all the weight, the "bulk" of my belly went back to just fat and not bump right after I had DS, so I would think you might be okay with the hoodie.
I lurk. I snark. I offer sound advice if you're not BSC. You may not like me. I'm okay with it.
I will say to anyone having a csection or vbac, you will have an IV and a catheter (csection only) so getting normal clothes on is very hard because your one arm can't go through the sleeve, and with any birth they will need to have access to your lady parts so I would suggest a type of night gown before I would put pants on. Also on a side note I saw something about a hoodie I personally liked a zipper less sweater better cause there was no chance of it getting caught on anything or digging into baby or me if I kept it on while feeding.

I think the general rule of thumb is you'll go back to your 6mo pregnant body. Some ladies go back farther than that, some ladies don't get that small while still in the hospital.
I really want to pick up the Victoria Secret's pajamas with the Henley shirts. The placket on the tops looks deep enough that I could unbutton for breast feeding. The tops also look like I could pair them with yoga pants and wear them as day wear if I need to go pick up my daughter from school or go to entertain company. I would probably wait until the bleeding is under control before wearing the pajama bottoms.
If there's something strange underneath the hood. Who you gonna call? Your Doctor. If there's something weird and it don't look good. Who you gonna call? Your Doctor. Immediately. If it's new, painful, and possibly pregnancy related get your ass off the internet and call your doctor. It's for your health and your child's.
PSA: For those that don't want to spend a lot on nursing tanks. Pinterest has a lot of tutorials on making your own. I made a couple myself. I found tanks at walmart for $2. Verses spend 12 or more on each tank.
Good idea to pack and see how it goes. Walmart has these right now and they are pretty soft so I was thinking of getting a few to have on hand.
Sweet. That looks like a good deal. Thanks.

I found some really comfy looking pants on Amazon that I plan to bring along with nursing tanks and a robe. I ideally would like to change afterwards, but since I have no clue what I'm in for who knows. I'm normally a medium but got a large so that they would be comfy and loose for obvious reasons.
The standard at my hosipital is to keep you 5 days after a csection. After my first CS I was very glad to have pajamas to change into on day 2 or 3. Not sure if you would really need then if you have a vaginal delivery, but the PP that mentioned visitors had a good point. I got some cheap scrubs from Walmart this time, because they did not have an elastic in the front. The elastic or yoga pants really bothered my incision for the first few weeks.
I packed pajamas last time but never wore them because I had a 4th degree tear. The nurses had to check the stitches every few hours so they needed "easy access" so I stayed in a hospital gown. It was also easier to apply dermoplast and ice packs!

Exactly what I was thinking!! My mom works for VS and I told her that I wanted a few sets of these for after I get home! They look super comfy.
I plan to change but as a FTM, what do I know? I packed a couple pair of yoga pants, nursing tanks & hoodies. During our tour they said to pack for 4 days just in case.
I had a c-section with DD1, and like someone said, putting anything on with a catheter and IV is basically impossible. Plus, the nurses have you laying on a bed pad for the first 24 hours or so to monitor your bleeding. Then, if everything went smoothly, they will let you get up to walk around and shower. I ended up getting an infection and had to stay on the bed pad, in the gown, for over 48 hours. So basically, pajamas seem kind of pointless to me. The robe is also perfect for breastfeeding.
I had a c-section so I stayed in the gown the first day, but put my PJs on as soon as they removed the catheter and let me take a shower. Hated that gown so much. Kept getting all twisted and bunched.
I had a c section so stayed in the hospital gown the entire time. It was just easier since there were always nurses coming in to check. I will pack a pair of yoga pants just in case but have a feeling I will end up just wearing the fashionable gowns again.

This reminds me I need to buy a zip up hoodie!
@CarrieOct15 old navy has cute maternity ones. I bought a heavy one last time and a thinner one this time. I used the one last time when I would baby wear. The extra room from my former bump would zip over her perfectly while in a carrier.
Last time I brought yoga pants, nursing tops and a hoodie but stayed in the gown. I bled so much I had to change the gown 4-5 times a day. I really thought I would hate them but it was just easier to stay in the gown.
Last time I ended up with a c section. I stayed in the hospital gown until I was unhooked from everything and able to shower. I then changed into a nursing tank and loss fitting pj pants. Even though the pants weren't tight they still hurt my incision.
I am having a repeat c section so this time I packed maternity leggings that feel like you are wearing nothing and a couple of v neck tunics I can pull down to nurse.
I have a repeat c-section coming up, last time I wanted to change but I didn't take into account how horrendous the bleeding would be both from the incision and from below. I'll be packing sundresses to wear during the last two days or so (found that idea on Pinterest, GENIOUS!), just so I'm not in a constant gown, and I'll pack really, really loose pants for the trip home.
I delivered my first vaginally and wore the hospital gown the whole time. I was there two days and honestly didn't shower until the morning that I left.
This time I'm have a scheduled c section. Standard stay is 2 days. I have one set of easy access pajamas and yoga pants, nursing tank and zip hoodie for going home. I probably won't change, but I also don't know my hospital's policy on c sections yet.
I bought a pair of Gilligan & O'Malley pajamas on sale at target a few weeks ago. So comfy and they have a button down top. Black, of course.
I love getting into my own pjs as soon as I can and after a nice shower. I always feel more comfortable for visitors and def more coverage than those hospital gowns. I recently bought a 3 piece nursing pajama set from khols. Comes with pants, a nursing cami, and a robe!! Love it. This is my second set I bought.
I am thinking an oversized night shirt and light silk dressing gown i picked up cheap (Will be stinking hot here in Australia through November) But they will be there just as an option.

Just bought them online. Hope they're soft! Thanks
Ended up spending 40 extra bucks to get the free shipping lol. All baby stuff so it's all good.
I checked my local Walmart last night and they had my size in stock so I picked some up. I think they are pretty soft, not like the starchy fabric some other PJ's have. I wanted to get some nursing tanks and sleep bras too but their in store selection SUCKED! So I will have to do the online route and spend the $50 for free shipping as well LOL
Where does everyone get their favorite nursing tanks from? I've checked Old Navy (terrible reviews), Motherhood Maternity and Amazon who don't have much of a selection. Ideally, I would like them to have built in cups. Any suggestions are appreciated!

Disclaimer: I've not used these yet nor have I seen them in person.
Bravado and Cake Maternity both seem to have built in cup bras.
