I am so confused about how they're supposed to look. I know there are things that I won't be able to decide on until I am actually at the hospital. Just wondering if any of you had simplified birth plans that you don't mind sharing?
My hosp gives me questions to fill out. I will tell u one thing, you don't have a lot of control , if a c section is required u will do it , if you originally didn't think u wanted pain meds., u may change ur mind or perhaps u want them but get to the hosp and the anesthesiologist is busy and it's too late.... Just have an open mind. U don't get an extra metal for having gone through without the epi, nobody will judge u. Trust me. Take care and good luck fellow-mommy-to-be.

I plan on getting an epidural and doing whatever the doctor reccommends. I mainly would like to have one to let the doctors know I want the cord to have a delayed cutting. To have skin to skin contact immediately after birth if possible. And to strictly have her breastfed, no bottles or pacifiers. I keep having dreams of the nurses giving her a bottle while I'm asleep. So it makes me nervous.
What you want is pretty standard in most hospitals these days. My hospital did delayed cord clamping/bathing, skin to skin, and encouraged immediate breastfeeding. It's your nurses who will make it happen for you so be sure to tell them. If a doctor delivers your baby, they will probably just be there when you start pushing until the baby is out!
I also do the 3 sections. One page, just bullet points and all my basic info at the top to make it easy when nurses change shifts... my labor last time was 24 hours so I had two different labor nurses. It's just basic wishes and like others said, once you are in hard labor there is not a lot of control. Main goal is everyone is healthy and they will do all they can to ensure that. I focus on the options I'd like offered.... Music, dim lights, bath, etc. And then the postpartum stuff: breastfeeding, delay testing/bathing, circumcision, etc.
It really just depends on your hospital and doctor. You wouldn't need one in my hospital because all of what you want is standard. I would just make sure to talk to your nurses and make sure whoever your support person is knows what you want so they can speak up if possible since you may be a little distracted.

I made three sections:
During labor
During deliver
Post partum care
I kept it to just a couple of things in each section
