So earlier this week I posted about my husband setting off the fire alarm with a smoke machine....... This week just keeps getting better and better
We have three dogs. We tend to mostly sleep with the small 17lb one and the two big ones mostly sleep in their crates. The little dog is named Vegas. We have had Vegas for about 5 years. we adopted him from the pound so he is probably 11 or 12 years old now.
On Saturdays I am off work so I tend to sleep in until like noon, because face it - fatigue sucks and I have insomnia issues, but that is neither here nor there.
Hubby gets up at 5:30 this morning because he has to be in High Point at 7:30 for a fence build. He volunteers with a group that builds dog fences for people that cannot afford them, and was helping out another county's group. In the pouring rain I might add. I told him he was crazy. So anyway he lets the two big ones outside. And I was like what about Vegas. He said Vegas is all snuggled up sleeping I don't want to bother him.
So fast forward several hours later. Now keep in mind that usually when Vegas has to go to the bathroom he will let me know by pouncing on me or barking. This morning he did neither. I woke up and thought my foot felt wet. (I sleep with socks on - I cannot sleep barefoot). I dismissed it and thought maybe it was a bad case of the night sweats. I thought I smelled something, but in my half asleep state, I dismissed it also. Then a couple hours later, I woke up and my foot was still wet. I was like what in the world. I looked down and discovered that Vegas had peed a freaking gallon at the foot of the bed, including on my foot. And then I guess he laid in it because when I tried to pick him up to rub his nose in it, I immediately dropped him b/c my hands were soaked with dog pee. There were wet spots all over the bed room floor where he had laid after laying in his own pee. You want to send a pregnant woman into a fit of rage? Pee on her foot. All I can say is thank goodness for mattress protectors. Hubby does not get why I am so mad. Ummmm yeah hello I told you to take him out, but you didn't want to disturb his sleep. So yeah technically it is his fault.
It is not a happy day. Having to wash bed sheets (we only own one set now from where one of the other dogs shredded the other sheet one day while we were gone). Having to wash blankets, and everything else. Not the way I wanted to spend my Saturday!
Edit: Before anyone says to get used to it b/c a baby is going to pee and poop and stuff. I understand that. A baby does not know any better, but a house trained dog does!
