Trouble TTC

Post ovidril BFP then BFN

Hello all
I was on chlomid 150 mg for 5 days and then I took a shot of ovidril. At 11 days post shot I tested a faint BFP. Now it is 2 days after that and I said I would test again. It came back BFN. Was wondering if anybody has any experience or a situation like this? Thank you

Re: Post ovidril BFP then BFN

  • Hi! Ovidril (and most other trigger shots) contain HCG, which is the same hormone that pregnancy tests are checking for. Depending on your dosage, it can take up to 14 days for the HCG to leave your system. Many women here will "test out the shot," which means they'll start taking pregnancy tests right after the shot. The first time the get a negative they know that the HCG from the shot is out of their system and any BFP they got after that is a true BFP. Before that, it *can* be a false alert created by the HCG from the trigger shot.

Unless you had tested previously and know the HCG was out of your system, your first BFP was *probably* still the trigger HCG. But that doesn't mean that there isn't a real one coming in the next day or so!

  • I did the trigger this month also, but because it has HCG, I'm not even going to take a pregnancy test unless AF is super late. I get all stressed out taking pregnancy tests, plus they are $$$

I would try again in a few days, or wait until you miss your first day of AF.
