Hey ladies this will be my second c-section and am not wanting to go into labor( scared will have baby fast ). When should I schedule my c-section last one was due on the 9 had him the 5
This is a discussion you should have with the doctor who will be performing the c-section, but my OB does them about a week before the EDD. I think any sooner then that and it is getting TOO early.
I'm also having a scheduled repeat c-section. I'm pretty sure most practices won't allow you to schedule prior to your 39th week, unless there's other complications. I'm scheduled for when I'm 39w1d.
I think you'll have to ask your OB what their policy is.
This is something you should talk about with your doctor. Some practices don't leave the scheduling up to you, they just give you a date and that is it. My second was a RCS and they scheduled me for 39w6d, and I did not go early. This time I am not at the same practice. Last appointment they said the OR schedule is not made yet but when it is I get whatever day my doctor is scheduled for the OR that is in my 39th week, if that makes sense to you.
Definitely talk to the doctor. Everyone is different. He/she might have reason to go earlier or later. Before 39 isn't necessarily a problem, but it will depend on you, baby, and health.
Personally, my doctor is looking at ~37wks (He does Mondays, but my week changes on Wednesdays) because we are expecting twins and other risk factors. This is not set in stone either. He said he is hoping I make it to at least 35wks.
My mom delivered us at 32+2wks. It was not ideal but survivable. (Not a c-section, but just saying babies can make it through earlier than 39w)
My doc schedules them one week before your expected due date if the baby is doing well. Otherwise he makes you wait till your due date. It will really depend on how your doctor feels about it. How does your doc determine due dates? Baby measurements or due date?
I agree, Speak with your OB. Mine brought it up to me (it was already on my "what to ask list" & also gave me a hospital registration form! I received a call from one of his nurses that same day to schedule. I had a couple days to choose from on the 39th week of my pregancy. - This will be my second! I'm super nervous & anxious & excited! Time is flying!! Good luck!
