Four month shots

Whose LO's had their four month shots and how did they fair?

My guy has them this morning. I was proactive and gave him baby Tylenol about an after when the crying began. Fortunately it wasn't as bad this time. Perhaps bc the shots are a repeat of the two months? The only difference I noticed was he grunted and moaned for about an hour before bed. He also has a head cold though and was tired. Parenting is such a guessing game! Aah!! I can hardly wait for the six month shots. Maybe they get easier as you go? Haha wishful thinking?

Re: Four month shots

  • My girls 4 month shots went much better than the 2 month!! They're muchhh bigger though and actually have some fat. I'm talking basically doubling their weight from their 2 month checkup (premie babies, so they had a lot to gain). So in my experience it was easier!
  • My LO had her's today and the only difference was that she slept a little longer this afternoon. Good luck ladies!

  • Mine did great, no fever or anything, she cried for about 2 min after the shots (to be expected) she took an extra nap or two that day and slept for a very long time that night- so all in all a success!
  • I found these shots to be way better than his two month shots...He cried for about a minute during/after he got them, but calmed right down when I held him.  He was very drowsy when we left the doctor, and napped for a little longer than usual.  He slept through the night the day he had them.  The next day was the start of his sleep regression, so at least he gave us one good night! :)

  • Ours were horrible. She screamed so loud for so long thought she was going to burst a blood vessel. Poor baby! Of course she was not feeling well to begin with & tired. My LO is such a happy baby but when she's upset you certainly know it! Too traumatic for me but a necessary evil.
  • Completely uneffected here, I also gave her panadol before the appointment. She laughed when he put the needles in.. But put her in her car seat and she will scream bloody murder. Very strange child

This cracks me up! What a love
  • LO did MUCH better than with his 2 month shots.
Didn't cry until he got his 2nd shot but settled down as soon as I picked him up. Fell asleep on the way home. He slept more than the norm and was a little fussier than usual but overall still his was his smiley self.
  • She was fine. Screamed during the shots, obviously. But unaffected after. Much better than the 6 week round!

  • I'm thrilled to hear everyone's experience was better this time! Hopefully it continues to get easier!!
  • I noticed the area where the shots were given was hard for a few days afterwards. Anyone else?

Yes... This is very true for us.

  • @Emilywooddesign YES! She had hard lumps for like a week after in all 3 shot spots. Only one remained after a week. But she didn't flinch when I touched them so it must not have hurt.

LO is not 4m yet so has not had those shots, but he did get a knot in one leg for a fee days after. Like PPs, it didn't really seem to bother him unless I pressed REALLY HARD on it (and it hurts when someone presses really hard anywhere on your body, so that meant nothing). I would massage it while I was feeding him or playing with him or whenever he would let me have some minutes doing it. It went away. I don't remember how long it took, I just remember one day I noticed it was gone

LO had his 4 month shots today definitely much worse experience than 2 month shots. Hes been much more fussy this round. Plus the power went out and it took us 2 hours to get through our visit.
  • LO had his yesterday. He is running a low fever today, but doesn't seem to feel bad. He's a little more mellow than usual and napping easier, but seems otherwise ok.

He didn't cry for the first shot, but then came two more, and that was just too upsetting!

I don't see anyone else here reporting fevers, so will keep a closer eye on it.
  • @virginiaunicorn11 ^ I'm pretty sure I read on the vaccine information sheets that a low grade fever was not uncommon. It actually gave odds on the sheet my Dr gave me

Thanks! I'm being irrational, and appreciate you reminding me of that truth about vaccinations. He's been napping for almost three hours, and I'm talking myself off a ledge. DH keeps reminding me this happened after his last shots.

I do KNOW he's fine. I am just not sure that I am fine ;-)

    I'm 10% anxious, 90% side-eyeing myself
  • ^^ no worries! I'll probably freak out over some other thing after his shots, too

  • ^^^LO gets shots on Thursday and I'm 100% going to be freaking out.
  • LO had his shots Monday and once again I was feeling so bad all day because he was happy and smiling not knowing what lay ahead. I know it's important that he gets them but I still feel guilty that he's going to be in pain. He fell asleep on the 10 minute drive home from the Drs office and was smiling at me all night and had no problem sleeping at night so like I said, worse for me than for him!
  • @virginiaunicorn11 my little guy had his 4 month shots on the 12th. He did have a low grade fever which made him so uncomfortable. I gave him Tylenol and he vomited. I bathed him in lukewarm water and he seemed better, but night time came along and he was just super fussy. I was advised to give him Tylenol if he had 100.2 or above. I watched him like a hawk that night. Today he is back to his goofy self.

So glad your dude is feeling better! Mine was worse the day after his shots than day of. But today he's back to his normal self, too. Phew!
  • @LaurenAnn0405 I always feel the same way. Didn't help that my LO reacted with such intense screaming for at least 5 minute which seems like a lifetime when it's happening. I hope 6 months go better. Hate to see them so upset & they are so unsuspecting I just feel terrible about it!
