Failed embryos

Today was suppose to be my implant day but yesterday I got a weird call from my dr saying he may want to give it another day and that he would call me first thing in the morning if anything changes. Well this morning he called me and told me all 6 embryos failed. I have a meeting with him tomorrow but my heart is broken like I just lost a child. We have unexplained infertility good eggs and good sperm..they did have to do icsi and on Monday I got a call that everything was looking good and implant would be Wednesday. I can't believe what could happen over night. I was not prepared for any of this .. I knew ivf could fail but I never imagined I wouldn't even get implanted. {heartbroken}

@vssbrm thank you! I can't even begin to think what's next. I never thought I'd have to go through all this again bc I thought I'd have extra embryos. I don't know how we feel about any other options yet.

@kindrex05, I am so very sorry for your loss, I recently went through the same, although my husband and I had four frozen embryos they all tested PGS abnormal so no transfer. We found out last week and have our appointment with the RE Thursday. I can only tell you that it really is a loss we have gone through several of the stages of grief. I hope that your RE has a good plan for you and that you keep hope.

I am so sorry this happened to you and your husband. We went through PGD and only got one normal embryo from the process. We are waiting on the results of the transfer. My heart goes out to you, be good to to yourself and give yourself some time to heal. This is a very difficult journey and the women on this board are just an unbeliable source of support. Know you are not alone.

The women on this board have been amazing with their support, while I have a great support in my life, it is so different to know that the women here understand in a way someone who has never experienced this disappointment could....

Thank you so much!! I felt very lucky to have one. I know you feel devastated and the emotions are so many to mention. We are praying that this takes, as I don't see us doing another cycle. It's financially not where we want to be - hard with no guarantees. I am keeping strong and just remembering that we have done everything possible to make this work - the rest is out of our hands.

I am not sure where your husband and you stand on another cycle, but it feels right, just make sure you give your body a bit of a break. The only thing I have learned about this process is how amazing we are as women, the strength we have, and that his journey is day by day.

You are in my thoughts, stay strong and be kind yourself!!! Remember the sun is always shinning, even beyond the clouds.

It is so crazy to think we have to go through the entire process all over. We havent decided how long we are going to wait or even if we want to dive back in. I was looking today and from the first day of belly injections to retrieval was 12 days and it honestly felt like it was 2 months .. I was shocked when I actually looked at the calendar. I know I can't have anyone decide for us but does anyone have any feedback they had when experiencing all of this..

@kindrex05 I'm so sorry that you lost your embryos. To have all 6 arrest is truly heartbreaking.

Did your RE give you any information on why they pushed for a later transfer? I'm not sure of the timeline, but if they all arrested on day 4, but looked strong on day 3, it can provide a lot of insight. This won't remove your pain, but may help you decide how you'd like to move forward. You can always make a records request to read the embryologist's notes and that can be helpful for you and maybe provide insight into your next cycle and decisions. Again, my heart goes out to you.

Yeah they did not do icsi until after at least 12 hours bc they had no reason to believe the egg and sperm wouldn't meet on their own .. And he really believes that one of them started to arrest then and that's why they failed .. Bc I went from 20 eggs to only 6 fertilizing after icsi .. My dh sperm always wasn't fresh it was frozen but they were very happy with the quality. I think we decided one more go around this cycle and we will support each other and understand our outcomes a little better and feel more confident and positive this go around.

@kindrex05 hugs to you. I know it's tough. I got of those dreadful calls that my embryos didn't make it pass Day 5 and yes my heart broke into pieces TWICE. I got very depressed. I wouldn't wish that on anyone. I'm sorry you're in pain.
