I work as a chef, on my feet all day, no real breaks, 10-12 hour shifts. I'm 17 weeks at the moment so I'm fairing OK, but know I wont last much longer! I was thinking of transferring department. UK law states if they can't change you work conditions they must change your job role with the same rate of pay. Or should I stick it out as long as I can? x

If you think it's getting to much for you than change positions or if the doctor rights you a note for less hours and more breaks see if will accomadate you. If it's too strenuous then I'd try to switch if won't make accomadations for you.
As long as you get same pay seems reasonable.You don't want to over do things.

Whatever you do just make sure you are not pushing yourself too much.

I had a similar problem! I'm a nanny to a little boy with severe special needs and I'm already having a tough time some days (16 weeks). I had planned to stick it out but honestly that's not what's best for us or for baby. I'd try to set a reasonable timeline for yourself to transfer job positions. That way your employer will have time to find and train someone new if they need to. I decided to finish the year, but I'm not on my feet all day like you!

Talk with your employer and see if they can make some accommodations such as allowing you to sit on a stool while doing food prep or getting a few more breaks to put your feet up. But you may need to talk to your doctor about finding a different position later in your pregnancy. FWIW, when I worked as a server there was another server there who was pregnant and worked up until her baby was born. She worked 6-8 hour shifts and sat down as often as possible, but she didn't seem to slow down much.

Unless you're having complications it's normally not a huge deal to keep doing what you were doing before you were pregnant, your body is used to it. Are you having issues right now? It's a tough for me to say what I would do because I live in the US and we don't get any options to change roles or anything like that so we just have to try and tough it out unless we get a doctor's note to be out and even then the time off is typically unpaid. But in your situation I would say that if you are feeling like you can't keep doing the job and you are able to take a position that will be easier physically and still make the same wages, I would probably do that.
