Why is my progesterone high?

i went for a progesterone test Thursday and my result was 105 which the lab flagged as high. The RE said that just means I ovulated but why so high? The previous month was 36. Anyone have any experience?

    I remember my progesterone being quite different from month to month when we were checking it... so I think that part can be typical... not sure why/what it means when it is flagged as high though.....

    I want to say it makes no difference since my RE puts his patients on progesterone supplements after O regardless, saying it can't hurt. But I have no basis in fact or science for this. If it really makes you worried, I'd call and ask your nurse.

    Unexplained with (controlled) hypothyroidism and suspected ovulatory dysfunction (but, I do ovulate on my own)
    Clomid 50 mg 3/15 (unmonitored) - BFN
    Clomid 50 mg + metformin 4/15 (unmonitored) - BFN 
    First RE appt. 5/15; Natural cycle 5/15 monitored with 2 mature follicles and Pregnyl Trigger (full dose) + prometrium - BFN
    6/15 HSG - clear tubes & normal uterus; great PCT test results
    TI - 100 mg Clomid + prometrium (AM & PM) + vaginal estrace (AM & PM) 6-7/15 (monitored) --> no additional response and thinned lining - BFN
    TI - Injectables (follistim + Gonal-F, Ganirelix, & 1/2 dose Pregnyl) + prometrium (AM & PM) 9/15 --> 3-7 mature follicles (3 definites and 4+ that could have matured due to trigger) @ O -->BFN + 5 large cysts
    BC for 2 weeks due to cysts
    TI - Injectables (Gonal-F, Ganirelix & full dose Pregnyl) + prometrium (AM & PM) 10/15 --> 1 mature follicle --> BFN 
    TI - Last attempt at injectables (Gonal-F, Ganirelix & 1/2 dose Pregnyl) + crinone (AM only) + vaginal estrace (AM & PM) 11/15 --> 3-4 mature follicles --> BFP!! 11/27/15 @ 13dpo (shockingly, actually waited until then to test)

    Beta #1 @ 16dpo (11/30/15) = 1,075
    Beta #2 @ 19dpo (12/3/15) = 3,150
    One baby: Saw heartbeat @ 5w5d (114 bpm; baby measuring 2.3mm)

    @riveridgional my RE has never mentioned using progesterone supplement so it's all me unless it's a side effect of the hcg or femara. One more week til I can go for test.

    Dang then! That does seem high! How many mature follicles did you have? Maybe it can be higher if you had more eggs released?

    Hopefully that means good news and your body was really ready! I got bloodwork at 8w5d on Friday and my progesterone is at 283. I've been on Prometrium since the day after my IUI. My RE's nurse said to just continue as is despite my worries about how high it is. So it seems like it can be too low, but there's no such thing as too high. So you probably don't need to worry for now! FX for a BFP for you!

    It's not a bad thing.  The lab just has "normal" values and that's out of the "norm" reading.  Regular 'ole women not doing fertility treatments.  

    ETA:  Fertility drugs do make Progesterone higher (typically).  It's a sign of a good strong ovulation.

    Thanks @riveridgional ! I had one at 25mm and one at 18, so time will tell. I would be over the moon for just one!

    @KidShrink thanks for the info of progesterone during pregnancy. Of course I jumped to hoping it was an early pregnancy sign...you know how easy it is to jump to those conclusions!

    At least I know my body was ready for a baby This month
