Pain - What's Normal??

I'm 14 days PP and still incredibly sore where I can sit or walk for too long and wound up sobbing hysterically last night because I can't take it anymore. I'm not able to care for my daughter the way I want because the pain gets in the way. My induction process was 53 hours and I had second degree tear after forceps assisted delivery but then a bleed due to broken blood vessel. so I have no idea how many stitches I had. They also had to pack it after delivery. I tried sitz baths but it hurts so much to sit. I have been treated like c-section in terms of restrictions. Any suggestions or many one go thru this? I don't know how much longer I can deal wit this!

  • I'm sorry about the pain and hope it gets better for you soon. Don't be hard on yourself about taking care of the LO, I didn't even hold the baby besides feeding for the first week since I was so unstable for walking, and got DH or my family to help. For the first week, a donut cushion was a lifesaver for helping me sit down.. but I would contact your OB and let them know of your pain level and see if they can do a checkup or help suggest additional pain relief options.

  • The hospital gave me witch hazel for pain and it also helps heal you faster. Also look for a lidocaine type product they gave me an over the counter one. Hope you feel better
  • I had a 4th degree tear, so I definitely know your pain. SIT ON THE BOPPY! I have two at home, one for the baby, and one for my bottom LOL Those things are life savers!
If the pain is too unbearable, just go to your doctor!! They will prescribe you better pain medicine. I had to take Percocet for about 10 days. Finally the pain eased up a bit, so now I take Motrin on occasion. Good luck!
  • I agree with PP witch hazel is awesome! Put it in the fridge and let it get cold...it is glorious!!! Also if you can find witch hazel wipes they are great to fold up and put inside panties on top of your pad. Only place I could find them is walmart though! And "Dermaplast" is an amazing numbing spray you can use!...get the one with the BLUE lid NOT the red one (red burns)..but the blue one is awesome!!! I found this at Walgreens! You also can get a baby diaper and fill it with ice and lay in bed or couch and place it on you like a diaper! And if all else fails call OB and request meds!
