2nd Trimester

Can't Wait for 20 Week Scan!

I'm a FTM and on Tuesday I have my 20 week anatomy scan. Woohoo! I'm so excited to see my LO again and make sure everything is all healthy. 12 weeks was forever ago when I got to see him or her. And if the LO cooperates I can find out what we are having finally! Was anybody impatient and super excited for their anatomy scan or is it just me?

Re: Can't Wait for 20 Week Scan!

  • I was soo excited for my anatomy scan!! My first ultrasound was at 7+2 so waiting until 19+2 seemed like an eternity. I ended up having another scan at 23+3 and it re-confirmed I have a healthy baby girl. Soo excited and can't wait to meet her this winter(I'm due Dec28th). Congrats on your pregnancy and I hope that you get good results and you will be able to find out the sex of your baby. :)

  • My 20 week scan is on Tuesday too! I've been dying to see the baby again and see how much it has grown! 20 weeks is such a long time but hey, we're half way there right? :)
  • With both of mine, I was soooo excited!!!  Have fun, mama!

  • I was very excited for my anatomy scan! Everything was fine for the most part. There were two abnormalities found and it really bummed me out. Thankfully they corrected themselves and everything is fine now! Hope you have a great scan! :)
  • I'm a third time mom and my scan is October 14th, and I can't wait either! :)
  • I was really excited for mine, and was thrilled to see her again and hear that all appeared to be well. I had had the expectation going in that I would get to do some leisurely gazing at baby and really have an opportunity to see her etc, and that really wasn't the case. It was a technical procedure, made slightly more difficult by the fact that she was facing my back. I am just saying this because my expectations of the experience were a bit off, which led to some disappointment.

My tech did things just as she should, got all the shots she needed, was reasonably warm, and was able to ascertain that baby looks healthy, but the experience was not so much about me getting to see my little girl. Perhaps I was naive to think that it would be, but I just wanted to share in case others shared my misconception.
  • It's super exciting. I had a hard time waiting too!
  • To me, I was excited to see if baby was healthy, as we did not want to know the sex of baby. After the scan, the tech said to get dressed and stay in the room. A nurse came in to take us into my doctor's office. DH and I sat there wondering what was going on, after my doctor came in he told Imus our LO had 3 markers for genetic issues and wanted us to get to a specialist immediately. So out day of excitement went south very quickly. We did not want to know the sex of baby and at that time it was the least of our worries. Fast forward, LO was born perfectly healthy.

I'm sorry you had this scary experience but was this story necessary in this thread? Geez.

-----quote box fail---------- What is your deal?????? Get off of your high horse, because this is REALITY, it happened to me and it happens to others who are not as fortunate as I was...... So everyone else can talk about how they are so excited to see baby, this and that. When reality is that it's NOT about seeing baby, finding out the sex - it's about finding out the health of your baby. I had the same feelings as OP going into My scan, excited/happy/ability to see LO, and see if baby is healthy. My baby had indications of major issues. You know what- shit happens and your moments of high, fun expectation get shot down very quickly when the tech gets very quiet, a very serious look, and you are escorted into a room to be told there are markers for genetic issues.,,..,,.you know what THIS CAN HAPPEN TO ANYONE!!!! OP asked if anyone is/was super excited about their scan.......YES, I was more than excited, but then reality hit DURING the scan. Sorry my story pissed you off! So because of my experience, I can't share what happened at my scan, wow!

Dang dude, chill out. There's a time and a place for these types of stories and I felt like it was completely unnecessary for your to share it here when OP clearly just wanted to express her excitement over a scan. And can you read? She said that she wants to make sure her LO is healthy and find out the sex.

And I LOL at the "sorry my story pissed you off!" Clearly I'm totally pissed off.

--------quote fail--------- Yes, I can read- and yes I saw that. Thank you very much. Sorry you find my experience so terrible.

Its not a fit....you have an issue with my excitement of my scan that I was looking forward to very much as OP is excited of hers. Sorry you feel my experience is not to your liking. This is a message board, and this is how I responded - my experience. Also, as for my screen name: There is a back story behind my screen name, and that is none of your business of why it's spelled the way it is, and the background behind it......, My screen name is fine as it is- thank you! it's a screen name on a message board- not spelling/English class! Edited

Sigh. You really aren't comprehending what I am writing but that's ok. Some people will always take the "woe is me approach" to life and that can't be changed.
  • Wtf. Anyway to circle back around to the topic- I finally got my u/s booked for 10/12 and I can't wait! But then again I was so impatient waiting just for the date that I can probably deal for another 2 weeks lol.

Me I'm so impaitent, but i am alsp super exctied ..I wanna no now! Feels ages away since I seen my baby at the last scan.. it feels like a lifetime waiting to find out what your hving to the baby arriving. .
I want to find out so can go start buying clothes! ♡
  • I was really excited for my 20 week scan and it was amazing seeing my baby again and watching him/her wiggle around on the screen. DH and I were both really excited to find out the sex as well but baby didn't cooperate and the tech couldn't even make an educated guess due to the umbilical cord being right between the legs. It's good to be excited but remember that it's never a guarantee you'll find out the sex so try not to be too disappointed if that part doesn't pan out - just my personal experience :)
