Hello Ladies. This is my first pregnancy and I'm planning on a home birth just wondering how many other ladies are with me or have been through it before? If so,which placenta technique did you use and how was your labour?
We had a great - but not painless ;-) -homebirth for our daughter and we hope to have the same experience with her little brother. I had some traumatic experience in hospitals in my life and was happy to be lucky enough not to have to deliver our baby there. We are realistic and know that sometimes the hospital is the only safe option so I will - like last time - register for a birth at the hospital and make sure they have all the information they need for an emergency, just in case! We live 5 minutes away from the hospital and our midwife is a professional with a lot of experience and on top of it a neighboor and a friend so we feel safe planing a home birth for baby number 2 too. For DD, we took an hypnobirthing course that helped a lot!!! So we plan to practice again. Actually, DH suggested it last night, which I find really sweet because it shows that he feels part of a team and wants to help! Love him! ;-)
My very good friend had two. She wouldn't have done it any other way. I wish she still had her blog up...I'd send it your way.
We now live in Kentucky where they haven't issued a direct-entry midwife a permit since the 70's, which basically makes midwifery at home illegal. There are not many birthing options here.
Once we started thinking about TTC way back in 2010 I always imaged a home-birth. Now I won't be able to have one, and I'm okay with that. I've swayed some, because both my mother and grandmother had difficult deliveries with all of their children.
