Pacifiers

Since my LO has been only a few weeks old, I've been using Avent Soothies since that is what they used in the hospital once or twice.

Just two weeks ago, I switched to the newborn MAM pacifiers (0+ months) since I was told from another mother that these are #1 dentist pacifier recommendation. He is 12 weeks old now, & my question is should I go out & buy new pacifiers that are for 3+ months or are the 0+ still ok to use?

Re: Pacifiers

  • My LO only used the newborn MAM paci for a couple weeks then I went to the 0-6mo. Of course every baby is different but I wanted to make sure it was fitting correctly in his mouth.

  • My LO is 12 weeks and I use the newborn MAM. Her mouth is small so I think this size is still good for her but I guess I should try the 0-6 soon.
  • I had the same situation...then it looked like the NB ones were squishing his nose so I bought the 0-3...but he must just have a pudgy nose bc the bigger ones did the same thing. The nipple appears to be the same size. I think it's just the plastic part that's bigger.
  • We used a few brands of paci's and the Newborn Mam's were the only ones my son would take . I switched him to the 0-6 size when he was almost 9 weeks. They recommend the newborn size until two months old.
  • We started with the newborn MAM pacis with all 3 of our kids. I've now moved DS to the 0-6m MAMs just because the "butterfly" of the newborns was so small. I asked on the MAM Facebook page and they said the bulb part of the newborn (Start) pacis and the 0-6m ones were the same size, just the butterfly was bigger on the 0-6s. So really you could wait until he's 6m and then size up to the 6-12m ones. Just beware of the Mam Air pacis. My son took a face plant at 8m with one in his mouth and it cracked, cutting his lip. It's happened to other friends' kids, too.
