Rants/Raves/Chart Stalk: Ugh I finally found time to go to the dr this morning and turns out I have strep Not really the way I was planning to start the weekend, but at least I now have antibiotics to help kick this thing. Rave - It's FRIDAY! Cannot wait for this week to be officially over!
GTKY: If you won $1,000 dollars on a scratch off lotto ticket today, how would you spend it?
That money would go right into savings/investments.
Rants/Raves/Chart Stalk: I continue to feel optimistic about this cycle. So far I've been more even emotionally this time around which is a huge plus. Looking forward to relaxing and a lot of BD as my fertile window starts tomorrow. I started BD on Thursday bc I want to cover all the bases.
****question****
I'm using wondfos opks and I'm still unsure of what time I should poas during the day to get an accurate read. I've read on here between 2pm-8pm and slightly dehydrated, but I like drinking water so my urine is dilute at that time. Thoughts? Can it be accurate in the mornings too?
GTKY: If you won $1,000 dollars on a scratch off lotto ticket today, how would you spend it? Put it in saving for future LO. Boring I know.
What are you doing to get KU: This is my first month temping, 2nd month OPK (just ordered a bunch of Wondfos last night),
Rants/Raves/Chart Stalk:
GTKY: If you won $1,000 dollars on a scratch off lotto ticket today, how would you spend it? Realistically? it would go toward my student loans, or our next car for if we ever get pregnant. If I had my choice, I would love to buy wireless/bluetooth speakers for every room so that I could play music whereever I am.

From what I've read, LH begins to be synthesized in the morning and can take a few hours to show up in the Urine enough to be detectable on a test. Some women have a super quick LH surge, only 12 hours or so, so you've got a 12 hour window to test and get a positive. If you test in the morning before the surge hits your pee, you'll miss the surge that day and it very well may be out of your urine by the time you test the next morning. Some people have a surge that lasts as long as 24-36 hours so for them, it doesn't matter as much, but if you do have a quick surge, morning pee MIGHT miss it, hence the recommendation to test between 2 and 8 pm.
What are you doing to get KU: Trying B6 to lengthen my LP (shh, let me be optimistic). Last month I temped through AF (I temp vaginally, but I also use a menstrual cup)... I think it helps me stay in the habit, so I'll probably do that again starting tomorrow (I slept in today).
Rants/Raves/Chart Stalk: Eh, another cycle. LP was 9 or 10 days, as usual... I started taking B6 halfway through last cycle, so either I didn't start it early enough or it doesn't do anything (which is far more likely). DH and I are spending tonight watching Netflix and drinking.
GTKY: If you won $1,000 dollars on a scratch off lotto ticket today, how would you spend it? I'd put it in the bank and save it for house-related expenses. $1k can buy a lot of IKEA furniture. Or maybe I'd pay the inspector in cash for the pre-pour foundation inspection on Monday.

But what if the surge happens overnight? Then, by waiting until 2pm you would miss it. This is why many women POAS twice per day. Also, most OPKs don't recommend using FMU because your body always makes a little LH and you might get a false positive because it has had all night to build up.

Circadian rhythms, LH is made in the morning, just like melatonin is made at night, its how you're (supposed to be) wired. You just don't make LH in the middle of the night, you start making it early in the morning.
I'm not frowning upon testing 2x a day, in fact if you've got cheap OPKs, I would even recommend it just for peace of mind, but I would say do one around 10 am (the earliest I've seen recommended) and one around 7 or 8 pm (the latest I've seen recommended). This is what I plan to do once I get closer to my predicted FW at least because I don't want to miss a potential LH surge and drive myself crazy with "what ifs".
@Maydar, you won't get hate from me for trying something to lengthen your LP. My LP has only been 7 days the last three cycles so I've been frantically searching for something to help. B6 has been mentioned a lot but it looks like it can take a few cycles to work for some women. The only thing that I found an actual, randomized control trial, empricial study on was Vitamin C. High doses of Vitamin C (like 750 mg I think) lengthened LPs in 50% of the experimental group. So that might be something else to try if you're still looking!
I don't normally advocate trying herbs or supplements without talking to your doctor, but both B6 and Vitamin C are water soluble. Just be careful with the B6 because high doses can cause nerve toxicity and birth defects if you do end up pregnant. And, of course, talk to your doctor as soon as you can. Mine didn't seem concerned with a short LP and was fine with me taking both B6 and Vitamin C.
What are you doing to get KU: BBT, reading TCOYF, preconception visit with midwife, prenatal vitamins, forcing self and DH to eat and drink lots of crazy "fertility super foods"
Rant/Rave/Chart Stalk: Saw the midwife. She said we are doing everything right. My charts of the last few years of AF (I use an app that prints out a cycles summary) look normal and ovulatory. And it'll take 6-9 months doing everything right and that I should "be patient and RELAX!" Did I mention I went crazy and had a tarot card reading yesterday? Went like this: my goal that I'm trying to achieve is affected by past troubles with my relationship, it will have a favorable outcome, and I must be patient. Seriously?! Seriously universe??? Ack! End rant.
GTYK: If I won $1000 I'd buy some patience! LOL for real I'd pay down the credit card we use for trips that has a balance as of right now.
@lalalorelai Thanks for the Vitamin C info, I hadn't heard that! I will definitely consider giving that a try, since that's super safe to take anyway. I'd heard the same things about the risks of B6, so I got 50mg tablets (which were tough to find!) because I feel more comfortable with a lower dose, and some of the anecdotes out there said it was enough to help with their LP.
Thanks @LizaKate1213 and @Sgoldberg247 for your responses. They were helpful. I'll test 2x a day as the chances of morning LH surge is super low and wondfos are cheap.
