Cramping and Slight Spotting

Worried first timer here, I've had mild cramping coming and going throughout the day, also when I stood up quickly I had a sharp pain for a few seconds in my side. (Which I put down to my uterus stretching). I was at the loo, and when I wiped myself there was a peachy colour? Not bright red blood, but almost a salmon pink discharge any advice? Super nervous :-(

  • I am in virtually the same boat as you but also a first timer so I can't offer much comfort other than 'ditto'. I did read it's coming to spot after sex so that's what I chalked mine up to but I have been having those slight cramps since before I knew I was preggers. :) I would just say try as hard as you can -I know it's near impossible- to not worry. If you see true blood then call the doc.
  • Brown spotting(old blood) is usually just fine and completely normal in early pregnancy. Pink spotting is also usually not something to worry about as long as it doesn't turn to red and get heavier. Orange is brown blood that has been diluted by your discharge so it should be just fine.
  • Totally understand the panic that you have felt. I had a miscarriage in May. It was super painful cramping, more so than a period, and bright red blood. And it progressed extremely quick. I knew immediately I had started the process of m/c. This pregnancy I've had both cramping and spotting. I say spotting, as opposed to bleeding, because it's never been much and it's always brown. I am 7 weeks today, and actually addressed it with my doctor at my appointment this morning. He said it was nothing to be concerned about as long as it was just a little and dark. It's totally normal to worry but if you are at all concerned, call the doctor. Sadly, you will probably know when you are m/c, if that happens. Sure pray baby is healthy and everything turns out well! Try not to stress about it. At this point, the best thing you can do is seek out wisdom from a doctor and take care of yourself.

  • Thank you so much to all of you, I shall see how things are in the morning, I have my first U/S next Wednesday so I am praying everything goes fine, best of luck to you all :-)
  • Thank you for posting this. I've been lightly bleeding since Tuesday. I called my doctor and they said they would just check me at my visit scheduled for tomorrow and that they aren't worried.  It seems every one who has been pregnant before thinks this is totally normal- but to us first timers it is nerve wracking!
  • I am having some light brown discharge tonight (will be 7 weeks tomorrow). It definitely had me hopping online to read up! Yikes! But it sounds like I shouldn't be too concerned yet. This is my 3rd pregnancy and I never had any sort of spotting with the first two.
