Registry completion coupon

A heads up to anyone registering at target: The completion bonus is a 15% off coupon that will come in an email around two months before the due date that you tell them. (Also, if you register in person instead of online you will get a goodie bag when you register.)

As a second time mom, I am registering all over the place, not because I expect anyone to buy me anything but because I want to get the completion coupons which were awesome last time around. This time, knowing that I would want to have everything in place early (baby number one was born a month early), I have been telling companies that I'm due earlier than my actual due date. I told target that I was due December 1 so I just got the completion coupon in my email. I saved a ton of money yesterday when I bought a bunch of things off of my registry using the coupon.

I MAY have spent $320 on nursery stuff. I'm so excited about the halo bassinest that I ordered (it is my one splurge item. The C-section last time made it really hard to get in and out of bed to care for my newborn when he was in the regular bassinet). I also got some color coordinating nursery items like crib sheets, crib skirt and changing pad cover. Seventh generation free and clear baby wipes are on sale for 15% off, so they're a great deal when paired with the 15% off completion coupon and my 5% off discount for using my red card. I also got a couple of new wet bags for my cloth diapers. The ones I have are two years old and are starting to fall apart.

  • I've also wondered: do the items you buy with your coupon have to be on your registry? I have been trying to figure out whether I can use it to purchase whatever I want, or if I have to put the items on my registry, knowing people won't want to spend that much. Thank you for the tip though! That's an awesome idea!!

That may be store-to-store. I did not get a goodie bag.

  • I registered at Target online and they sent me a voucher for a $20 gift card if I came into the store with my printed registry.

  • Is the coupon good through the end of the year or 30 days after receiving?

Go back and tell them you registered but didn't get one. There is usually a pacifier, shutteffly coupon code, there's a Starbucks coupon in there and some other really good coupons ;) just in the goodie bag

  • Things could have changed, but my SIL had a baby in May and she got 3 or 4 (can't remember, didn't study it, but it was at least 3) 15% coupons in the mail from Target for her registry completion.

@bpsproule you can add items to the registry the day that you go to shop. We just grabbed the gun and scanned things as we put them in the cart.

  • @MississippiCatfish thank you! that's a really smart idea! I know our families won't buy the crib and all of that, and I feel greedy having it on there, because I don't want them to think we expect them to buy those high dollar items.
  • can you only use the completion coupon once?

It looks like you can use it once online and once in store. There is also a friends and family coupon you can give to someone who wants to help you close out your registry.

Yup, I totally did this - adding this the day of. Hubby need new shoes? What the heck, throw them on there too. Running low on shampoo? Throw it on there. Might as well get the dicsount on everything you're there for.

I registered online but went into the store later that week and told them I'd heard they did goodie bags for registrees and they just handed me one. Didn't even look up my info.

I think it's good for like 6 months.

Yes, the items have to be on your registry. But you can add them the day that you go to close out your registry.
  • I also told Target we were due in December, but because our families are having showers in November and I wanted to be able to share the completion discounts with them. Didn't know about adding items the day of though-- good tip, thanks!

  • So a girlfriend had her registry at BRU. She was telling me that the store sent her a gift card for a percentage of everything that was purchased off the registry. She ended up getting a $260 gift card. I wonder if you can choose this instead of the completion? The gift card got sent to her 12 weeks after her EDD.

You actually get 10% or brown thing of all purchases off of your registry in the form of a gift card. I think it's something they always do
  • @wisco29 so you get both perks? A percentage off whatever's left AND the gift card?

Also, I read somewhere a while back that if you registered at kohls and put in code word snuggle you get a gift card to there as well. I'm doing all the registering!
  • Does anybody know if your coupon can be used on clearance blowout sale type stuff?

My plan is to register and get my coupon in time to use on Black Friday.

Do you have to use the in-store and online coupons the same day? What about the friends and family coupon?

With ours we also got a sample of 3 or 4 diapers and a sample pack of wipes and an Avent 4oz bottle. I'm going to register again and keep it private and hope the have the same stuff!!

  • Aww bummer our bag didn't have diapers or a bottle. We got a binky, wipes and coupons :( Anyways with BRU our registry with DS last year we got our rewards giftcard and a completion coupon. They give you 10-15% rewards giftcard back from the purchases on your registry, so even though you don't expect anyone to buy the big ticket items its still good to have them on your registry when you purchase them the benefits are worth it
  • Does anyone know if you get some kind of completion coupon from Walmart? I want to register at Buy Buy Baby and Target but the nursery set I like (and is quite affordable) is from Walmart. 15% a crib would be awesome!
  • What's the completion coupon percentage for BRU?
I didn't know they did a completion coupon plus a gift card for 10% of purchases!
Although if the completion coupon is 10%, then it's the same amount as with target if you use your red card, and with target you can buy everything before baby arrives.

  • I honestly can't remember how much the completion coupon was but I remember we saved a bit with the addition of the rewards giftcard
  • We actually added our Christmas present to each other after our first...a big screen tv. :) no one said anything!

    I don't think so
  • Lurking from Jan, here's the details on BRU. You have to be in their rewards club to get the cash back. People would need to buy you a lot of stuff to get $260 back. "Purchases by you or others must be made from your baby registry at any Babies“R”Us or Toys“R”Us, in-store or online up to 30 days after your expected arrival date. Registrants will earn 5% of the first $300 in registry purchases, and 10% on those registry purchases over $300.00 with no limits. For Example: For your first $300 in baby registry purchases, you’ll receive $15 back, ($300 x 5% = $15.) If you reach $1,000 in baby registry purchases, you’ll receive $85, ($300 x 5% = $15) + ($700 x 10% = $70) = $85."

  • I bought all of my stuff from buybuybaby last pregnancy. Free shipping and codes if you don't live nearby. I used a crapload of 20% off each item coupons too. I used it on furniture, toys, and mamaroo...etc. BIL used one on the $600 stroller, too. When you shop at pea in a pod they give you a goody bag with tons of coupons. Then you get some in the mail. Plus the bed bath and beyond 15%-20% off coupons that you get in the mail are good there, too, since they are the same company.

    Me either :(

  • I went back to target and got my goody bag. It's a great bag! Then I accidentally stole some stuff but I realized it after I got to the car and went back in to pay.

It turned out to be a great deal for us with our first we got her 2nd car seat for like half the price since we had over $100 on that gift card! I registered again this time around just for the gift card & coupon lol!

Awesome!! May I ask what was in it? I know if varies by store but I'm just curious :)

I've totally accidentally stole stuff before and haven't realized until I got home (45 min away) and had to bring it with me the next time I went and explain myself. So embarrassing.

There was a pacifier, a bottle, a pampers diaper, an honest diaper and wipes, a bogo for Starbucks, a sample of aquaphor, 3 samples of detergent, a sample of baby vitamins, and some coupons.

  • We started our registry at BRU today. Got a pampers "wristlet" (as they called it) with a diaper and wipes in it, and a ton of coupons. The guns kept dying on us so it was hard to actually register... It was slam busy in there so hopefully when I go during the week it won't be so bad!
