Christmas.. Yes already.

Hi moms I am the type of parent who starts her Christmas shopping/ lists early so I can start shopping for the best deals... My son will be 3 months during Christmas & I need some ideas on what to get him as well as gift ideas for his almost 3 year old brother. Thank you all in advance.

  • We probably won't be doing too much for DD for Christmas this year.  I fully expect her grandparents to go all out and truly she doesn't need very much.  It is harder with older siblings though because they'll expect the baby to get gifts too.

I'd probably go fairly practical for the baby....clothes, books, and then maybe a couple toys.  Or you could do something larger for both of them that would be a long term present.  LIke a swing set, if you have room?  Something like that.
  • Santa is bringing Arya a violet doll (think leapfrog makes them) just like her big sister has for her to use one day. Then we will get her some books and I want to get a piece of artwork to put on her wall. If it werent for big sister needing to see Santa getting her something I would just do the Violet doll and call it a day since she will only be 4 months.
  • I'll probably buy him a few books or some more pacifiers. Or some outfits. I already bought him his first ornament ;;)
  • We are getting the twins (2 years old at Christmas) a toy kitchen. It's really for all the kids to grow into. I never really got toys for my kids when they were less than a year because their relatives always got them too many.

  • Our kids have very generous grandparents so we decided to do the 4 gifts thing.

    Something to wear
    Something they need
    Something they want
    Something to read

I just don't feel like we need to get them a ton of stuff. Our house just isn't that big and we are on a budget. We spent a little over $100 last year on DD and that was plenty. It will probably be the same this year. Especially with them both being so young that they won't remember these Christmases anyway.

I like the 4 gifts idea, keeps things simple
  • We're taking DS on a train ride. It goes to a little town and is polar express themed. He LOVES trains right now and I like the idea of experiences vs. gifts. He'll still have gifts from his relatives though. DD is getting pictures done. More for me... Yes. But she won't remember. And hey, picture are memories for her. Right?

  • Family gifts are on Christmas Eve, so LO will get pajamas & a book, a onesie that matches Daddy. As far as Santa...haven't got s clue!
  • We arent doing gifts either. Someoneposted the lost name book though and we might do that if no one else gets it for him. We will most likely do the 4 gifts for him next year though.
  • The 4 gift thing is a great idea I never even thought of doing something like that. My 3 year old knows about Santa already (thanks to his grandparents) so that's why I was trying to think of what to do for my little one. I was thinking for a Santa gift to get him like a little Einstein activity bouncer thing. Lol . I already have the lost name books on the list to get both of them. Thanks
  • I want to get pictures taken and I've chosen a few rattles for DD. DS is 6, and I'm going to get him some star wars lego guys and a star wars bedding set. Not sure what my Santa gifts will be, but I work Christmas day anyway.

This. We need to do it for DS1.

  • We have so many Christmas events, I've just started buying really cute Christmas outfits because I know he's going to be in a million pictures. We've also been considering buying a collector train set, but I'm sure we can get that for a goid price after Christmas. I can't imagine him needing anything else, maybe we'll throw a couple hundred in his savings account.
