Not hungry??

anyone else just not hungry? I'm not nauseous I just have no desire to eat anything. I made myself eat a bagel with my coffee this morning and I felt fine I just have no appetite.

I'm already slightly overweight starting out so I want to be cautious of how much weight I'm gaining each month. But I also don't want to starve. I'm 5 weeks today. Anyone else in my boat?

Re: Not hungry??

  • Same for me, I have to remind myself to eat because otherwise I'd forget, totally not normal for me!

  • Yep-- except that I'm also nauseated. The cravings and aversions threads each have some conversation about this. I've been tracking my eating with myfitnesspal to be sure I'm eating enough of the right nutrients.
  • I have not had that problem.
Morning sickness kicked in for me around 6 weeks and that has affected my desire to eat. But when I'm not puking, I want food. All the food.

  • I am 5 weeks also and I'm not yet experiencing morning sickness, but also have times when I'm just not hungry. I try to just nibble on something to get nutrients in now before morning sickness sets in. For breakfast I make a smoothie packed full of fruits, veggies, whole grains, yogurt, and almond milk so that I get a lot of good stuff down and can drink it without feeling extremely full. So maybe something like that is an option? Other times I'm starving and make a big meal then take a few bites and I'm so full. I'm slightly overweight as well and I'm really trying to stick to the recommended weight gain each month by trying to make sure everything I eat has some sort of nutritional value and keeping my calories in check. That will probably all go out the window once morning sickness, cravings, and food aversions kick in, but I'm trying!

  • With my first pregnancy I was never really hungry, not just in first tri but the entire pregnancy. I ended up only gaining about 25lbs the entire pregnancy. This time around I want to eat everything in sight. Hopefully you will get your appetite back soon. Like PP said try smoothies those helped during my last pregnancy and you can pack healthy veggies and fruits into it.
  • I'm not that hungry, but I'm always constantly nauseous. I try to eat small snacks pretty regularly though anyway bc it seems to help with the nausea.
