Post nasal drip

Amy suggestions on how to handle post nasal drip?

I'm not sure if it's my allergies, if I have more mucus than normal, or if I'm just noticing it more than I did before being pregnant. But, I always feel like there's snot in the back of my throat and I need to clear my throat. The problem is that this feeling leads to me gagging and throwing up.

I absolutely have allergies and took an allergy pill every day before TTC. I'm hoping some of you ladies have suggestions or ideas on how I can manage the drip and allergies over the next 8 months.

Re: Post nasal drip

  • Saline spray, Nettie pot, humidifier at night, lots of water. Pregnancy tends to make sinuses swell even without the addition of allergies or a cold.

  • Nettie pot FTW.

  • I'm going to second the saline spray and third the Nettie pot. Both have helped both me and DS through some rough nights of stuffiness (not a Nettie pot for him but a similar children's contraption that I recommend to anyone whose kid can't blow their nose yet).

And just to add post nasal drip is the worst! Especially when you're already feeling nauseous. I was so congested through the first half of my pregnancy with DS, it was miserable. Fx it starts to get better for you!

  • Thanks ladies. I picked up some saline spray and start using it tonight. I'll also pull out my netty pot for added help
