TTC after 35

Another bump at work

A coworker told some of the teachers today that she's expecting. Yay for her. Although exact quote, "we didn't want anymore. I tried to ignore it as long as possible. (Talking about being pregnant).

Meanwhile I have every PMS symptom there is, and I'm pretty sure AF will be here any time. Somebody talk me down from this bag of cookies in my lap.

Re: Another bump at work

  • Ack! Terrible thing to say--even if no one in the room was wanting desperately to be pregnant. I mean, if you really didn't want anymore, there are ways to pretty certainly prevent that. And if you do end up pregnant unexpectedly, maybe find some joy about the new life you are bringing into the world once you get over the shock. The worst.

I'm not good at talking people down from eating cookies. I would eat them all.

  • @jennOK I am so sorry you had to hear that today. That would upset me even if i wasn't ttc or even interested in having kids, let alone while ttc. A very insensitive thing to say all around.

I am also not a good person to go to for cookie restraint. I think you deserve the entire bag after enduring that today.

I won't even get into what she said about having kids after 30. I left on that note. Lol

    Edit for stupid auto correct.

  • I think it's especially cool to hear that from a 20-something mama.  I feel like most mama's in their 20s look at me like I'm crazy to be trying now!!  Two of my good friends had babies in their 20s and about a year ago, we were at dinner and they went on and on about how they couldn't imagine having a baby now and thank god that was behind them, etc. etc.  It really hurt my feelings.  I should have said something, but I didn't.  Clearly it bugged me that I'm STILL talking about it...  I just think that's really awesome that one of them supported you that way!!
    *** Child & current pregnancy mentioned ***
    Me - 41 (PCOS), Hubby - 43 (healthy)
7/2013 - Sweet baby girl born (Clomid + TI)

First ultrasound: TWO beautiful little heartbeats!!
Harmony: negative; level 2: babies look great and are boy/girl! :)
  • I'm sorry your friend said that, @emsmama15 It's hard to understand how or why people think that kind of comment is helpful in any way. I can't really imagine having had a baby at 22, but I don't tell my friends who did that I think they're crazy! Anyway. Things like this definitely help me try to focus more on remembering to be kind and empathetic and to remember that people have a lot going on that I don't know about when I am interacting with them, whether they are a friend, family member, barista at Starbucks, or Internet friend. :)
  • @emsmama15 >:D<
I've heard several times even AFTER 3 consecutive losses "Are you sure you even want another kid?"
This will be my fiancés first child, it's so rude to have anything to say about something so personal.
    I'm sorry.
@Sporty1216 I love that! That's how it should be! ;)

  • Bad enough your going to have to see her for pretty much her whole pregnancy. But the extra comments are the ultimate throat punches ((((hugs))))) to you :(
