Just curious if there are any Jersey girls out there. My husband and I have been trying to conceive for 2 1/2 years and after 6 failed IUIs and 1 failed IVF, I feel like I need someone to talk to that can relate and offer me hope. My husband and friends are supportive... But I dont think they truly understands the emotional and physical toll of ongoing and (so far) unsuccessful fertility treatments. I'm gearing up for my 2nd IVF in October and would love to know if there are any local ladies going through a similar experience.
Re: Jersey Girls
@Jaqcap17 - Our insurance made us do 3 rounds of IUI with Clomid and then 3 rounds of IUI with injectables before they would allow us to move on to IVF. Even though IVF is much more involved and our first FET didn't work, it helped having info every step of the way such as how many eggs were retrieved, how many fertilized, how many are chromosomally healthy, etc. There are so many unknowns in IUI which kinda drove me crazy!
@villacis811 - We might be cycle buddies... Or close to it! My nurse gave me a rough timeline of my next IVF and I'm expecting to have my egg retrieval around October 27th and the transfer November 2nd. Has your doctor talked to you about PDG testing? I highly recommend it for extra peace of mind.
@Drove2u - Welcome! Where in PA do you live? Hopefully nowhere near all the pope traffic this weekend!! Are you doing IUI or IVF this cycle?
Fast forward...
Jan 18 IVF retrieval
Feb 23 polyp removal
March 11 first round of Lupron
xFeelingalive13x uggghhh I feel for you! good luck and super impressed that you have the strength to attend--hang in there
Did first cycle at the end of July due to Male factor....all of my numbers checked out.... Did ER first week of August did ICSI and then they converted us to a FET cycle rather than an immediate transfer because (as they told us) they wanted to give the embryos one more day and they wouldn't do a day 6 transfer. We didn't know this could happen going in (we knew they may want to culture for 6 days, but didn't know that would automatically put us in a FET cycle). We were hugely disappointed....and we did PGD and ended up with only 1 chromosomally normal Embryo. Another disappointment.....Since the first week of august we have been waiting and waiting and waiting to be able to do our transfer. First, we were doing a natural transfer and weren't told that there could be any reason why it wouldn't work...THEN never ovulatated and no period for the first time in my life...then had to go on provera, and still no period and back in for blood and US just this morning to find out what is going on. This is been a very frustrating run for us at RMA. IDK if anyone else has felt the same. I would prefer more contact from the Doctor who we have talked to exactly once. It's always the nurse who's nice and all, but you know, she's not a doctor. And she never answer the phone. I get voicemail every time and then I have to sit at work with the cell phone attached to me hoping I am not tied up with something and can answer when she calls.
I know they have good numbers, but our experience so far has been very frustrating. I'm hoping the numbers ultimately bear out and it's worth it but it's been a tough ride mentally with them so far for me.
villacis811 I know someone who had success at Valley Fertility I think they are in Paramus. This person had a very tough medical history and really struggled to conceive, but they got her pregnant and she has a beautiful healthy boy! She did not do PGD and everything worked out. She was 30 at the time, and I am 37 so that's why I chose to do PGD and I think she did not due to being younger and in less of a "danger zone".
Good luck to all the jersey girls--hope we all get there soon!!
lynda1215 - although I haven't had the greatest experience at RMA NJ so far, I do know that they have a ton of doctors there and some of them particularly focus on male infertility factor. you may want to check out their website and their doctors bios, identify who specializes in male factor and see if you can make a consultation appointment with that person....My initial consultation with RMA was 425 which is a little steep, but it was covered by insurance--I would talk to your insurance company and see what your husband's coverage is for fertility treatment. you may be able to get some coverage for a first appointment. There are some publications that talk about ways to increase sperm count and there may be a doctor that can give you some advice on that.
Does anyone else have experience with Recurrent Pregnancy Loss in this area? I am currently going to Dr. Kim in Fort Lee who specializes in Acupuncture for Fertility. She comes highly recommended and has helped many women in our situation. Any insight on local specialists in our area outside of the RE you are seeing?
We are dealing with male factor infertility:morphology, otherwise everything else we are pretty good on. My numbers look awesome. I did have a cyst this past month but not hormone imbalance from it.
Ok now I am going to go back through the thread and catch up on whats happening.
We were told ivf was our only hope due to mfi.

IVF is our only option. Due to a low sperm count (no blockage detected) my DH doesn't produce ANY sperm in his ejaculate. After having the Micro TESE procedure done 2 weeks ago, his urologist was able to extract vials of healthy sperm straight from his testicles & freeze them. The test is known to have a 50% success rate since the Dr didn't know if he was able to produce sperm at all. We are very fortunate that it worked in our favor.
@lynda1215 his urologist is Dr. Puneet Masson at Penn Fertility Care. He took amazing care of my husband. GL!
