Low Progesterone during 2nd Trimester

Last week, I did a progesterone blood test and it came back low. Im 17 weeks now. The doctor has started me on Prometrium 200 mg vaginally every night. I've been reading, but it seems like most people start in their first trimester. Has anyone else had to start taking it in their second trimester? Did the rest of the pregnancy go smoothly?

I am not familiar with people taking progesterone in the 2nd trimester, but I would obviously take your doctor's word for it.  Did you ask him/her the reason it would be low at this point?

I have my anatomy scan appointment coming up in two weeks, figured I would ask him then about it. In the meantime, they said they will measure my levels again next month. But everything I've searched has come up with taking it in the first trimester.

I was on prometrium for my first trimester.  Now I'm in my second, and I've been off it for 4 weeks- however, I am starting a progesterone injection once a week for 20 weeks.  Its to help make sure your baby bakes for as long as possible (I'm the mother of a preemie, which is why I'm on the injection this time around).
