Huge discomfort and contractions

I am about 32 weeks now and I have had some contractions and lots of pressure in my pelvis. I went to my doctor and she said that she is basically trying to get out but it isn't time to? She is far down and it is so uncomfortable and painful. Has this happened to anyone else? Is it common? Does this mean she may be early?
