Recommend your baby carrier

I want a new soft baby carrier to wear DS when he gets a little bigger.  Right now I am using a Baby K'Tan, but I know it won't be comfortable or easy to get him in and out of in a few months.  We have a Baby Bjorn that DH liked to wear, but I was never a big fan.  I am looking at a Tula or Boba 3G or 4G.  I recently noticed the Lillebaby carrier too, which i like because you can wear the child forward facing too.  I am not interested in wraps.

What do you use?  What do you like about it.

  • Aw. I'm actually a fan of the baby bjorn. I prefer that fit over ergo baby where it straps at the waist.
For me, baby bjorn is a lot easier to function :)

I wonder if I don't like it because I always have to readjust it from where DH uses it.  Hmm, something to think about.

  • We use the Ergo. The Bjorn actually positions baby's hips in an unhealthy way - it can cause hip dysplasia. My DH and I both use the Ergo and it's easy to adjust between users.
  • I used the k'tan with my daughter until she was 18 months old and loved it. I never did a forward facing hold with her though. I went from kangaroo/hug hold to a hip carry with her. (Once she was strong enough to hold herself up it was pretty much hip hold unless we were out at nap time - then we still used the big hold so she could sleep more comfortably). For the supported hip carry I nested one of the fabric loops inside the other and put that diagonally across my body, she sat inside of the loops and on my hip for a supported carry. I kept one arm loosely/gently at her back but for the most part had full use of both of my hands. Something to think about
  • The Bjorn is also bad for mom and dad's back. It distributes the babies weight on your shoulders and upper back instead of your hips like the Ergo. N

  • I have the Lilliebaby and love it! I didn't get it until DD1 was 6 months but I've been using it daily with DD2 and she is a happy camper when she's in it. I'm petite and find it to be very comfortable and it doesn't hurt my back at all. My husband also likes to wear it.
  • I love my Boba!!

I am eyeing the mei tei and the k'tan since the moby is a bit much.
  • I love my kinderpack. Insanely comfy and the only thing my picky baby will put up with besides my woven wrap. She doesn't like my moby, ring sling, mei tai, beco gemini or bjorn. Its incredibly comfy for me too. They are expensive and tough to get at close to retail price though.
  • I have the Ergo 360. I like that it's easy to get on and off and the different ways I can wear her. It's been a lifesaver through airports and grocery stores and other places I don't want to use my stroller. They have a new more breathable option I wish I had, because I feel like DD gets really hot in it. I've used it for my new baby but also for my older daughter who is 18 months. I can still use it with her if I wanted to I think. We will find out next week how much she weighs and then I'll know for sure ;)
  • I just use the infantino mai tei.  It's fine....but....Im not a huge baby wearer so the cheap option was good for me.  I wouldn't really recommend it for wearing a lot of the time.

  • I love my Ergo 36o. FTM, so nothing to compare it to but I find it simple to use .

Tula or lillebaby are my favorite. The lillebaby comes with an infant insert which is nice. I also have a ring sling and woven wrap
that a friend gave me. I like the baby k'tan, but SO and I can't use it properly because the one we have is too big :(
  • I bought the Bjorn One. It's supposed to be a better design to not hurt your back. Right now baby's too small for it though so I bought a cute fabric one to use for now, called Chekoh.
  • I have the Bjorn WE - it's supposed to be hip safe according to DS orthopedic dr. It has better back support than the original Bjorn I had with DD. I've only used it a couple times though.
