is it normal at 16 weeks for the 3d to look as if some of the baby is deformed? Like some of the head is missing in the dark spots? Looks bumpy and like there's a whole in the head. I'm a worry wart!!
I think it's likely that if your OB thought there was an issue, you would've been informed. Babies still have a good bit of formation left to do at 16 weeks.
It is normal. I had my 20wk scan done and a few pics looked that way. Just one came out very clear. The tech told me it was cuz the video is moving so it depends on when they capture the still pic from it as to how it looks.
The reason I'm concerned is because I haven't had a ultrasound ordered by the doctor since 8 weeks, I went to a private lady who does ultrasounds at 16 weeks. I just found out my quad screen came back abnormal and I'm scheduled at a maternal fetal medicine the 22nd. And I guess because of the screen coming back abnormal is why I'm so worried and noticing things like that.
It's just the angle. I had a 3d with DS at 15 weeks and then again around 32 and both times the pictures had "pieces" missing. Google 3d ultrasound pictures.
DH and I were going to get a 3D one done and my OB recommended that if we did, (there office no longer does them) to wait as long as we could, because often times the pictures look distorted, some technicians even try putting in their own two cents about what they are seeing on the screen and it can cause unnecessary worry for you. We have to go back at my 28 week appointment for another sono. to check on the placenta, to see if it's moved at all. It will be the last time I get to have one done before baby is here, so I'll just take that and be happy with it.
Re: 3d ultrasound
This is why I don't like 3D ultrasounds...they creep me out. :-S
This is another reason why boutique ultrasounds are a bad idea.
