Chemical/Early loss what to expect?

Hi ladies,

Sad to be here again :( MC in March due to a ginormous polyp that was finally removed in May. Got the all clear in July and thought/hoped struggles would be behind us. Not so much! Was ready to start clomid this cycle but missed my period and got a BFP last week. Over the weekend I felt my symptoms just basically disappear overnight and I just knew. Doc confirmed quant back to 33. I was only about 4 weeks and a few days so they are calling it "chemical" pregnancy, I could care less what it's called it sucks!

Here is my question..... The first MC was awful, bleeding like the Carrie shower scene and huge clots. I think I was about 5 1/2 weeks. This is so early, I'm curious to know what you have experienced if you had a loss so early (and I'm sorry if you have). I'm a college recruiter and am on my feet at job fairs the next 3 weeks and afraid to wear anything but black!

Also, when did you start trying again?

Thanks girls!

I was 4.5 weeks when I had a chemical.  It was just like I started my period late.  It wasn't any different than my typical period so if I hadn't been testing I probably wouldn't have known I was pregnant.  I was cycling with the RE when this happened and he said it was fine to just go right back to TTC with that cycle.  I got pregnant with my daughter that cycle after my chemical.

    Good luck to you!

I'm so sorry for your losses. I had a CP in early August at 5wks. My bleeding was heavier than my periods but it only lasted for 5 days. I got my period again 33 days later. We were given the green light to start trying again as soon as we felt emotionally ready. Good luck to you!!

I had a chemical right around 5 weeks - mine was much heavier than my normal period and longer. I had lots of clots for about 3-4 days and then mild-light bleeding for 4 days. my cycles are normally pretty short and light. I also has some pretty intense back pains then went down my legs and cramps.

This sounds lighter then what I experienced with the other loss, which was far enough to see a sac. Bleeding has started with cramps and back pain, pretty much like an awful period as you described. Thank you for sharing, I'm hopeful this won't be awful!

@shannonandy, we have similar timing.  I had a MMC in March (had to get a d&e in April at 11 weeks) and just had a chemical on the 5th of this month.  It was a little heavier than normal and I had some small clots on the second day, but nothing like after my d&e.  I had described it the same way at the time -- the shower scene from Carrie.

If it ends up being heavy, you can wear a liner along with your tampon.  ...I had to use ginormous pads after the d&e.  No tampons allowed.  That was not fun.

I had a d and e in late July... And then an early miscarriage a couple of weeks ago... And my early miscarriage was like a heavy period like others have said. It only lasted 4 days and I wouldn't have known but I started feeling symptoms and took a test early.

Previous posters- did you ovulate the cycle following your early miscarriage?
  • Options
Yes, I think I'm ovulating today or tomorrow. I got a peak reading on my opk this morning. After the d&e, I didn't ovulate until the third cycle after.

Thanks for answering! My temps are all over the place so it's hard to tell what's going on.
  • Options
Me too! I had a temp spike yesterday but then a huge temp drop this morning! Like lowest temp I've ever seen.
  • Options
I had a peak reading on Thursday and thought I ovulated Friday.  Saturday's temp went up, but just under my usual coverline, and today it dropped low again.  So it looks like I didn't ovulate.  Not sure if I will.

I can't turn an opk to save my life which is ironic bc I usually surge twice. Sigh

Mine really low, but seem to be leveling out a little bit. Better than all over the place like they were a week ago. On Thursday, it will have been 4 weeks since my chemical.

I had an early MC at 4.5 weeks over Labor Day weekend. I described mine as like a half period. It was about 36 hours of a period (needed a pad but not as heavy my period usually is) followed by 2.5 days of volume ranging from spotting to that of a light day. A panty liner was enough on those days. This left me hopeful that my baby was ok, but after waiting 6 days to get blood work results (nightmare long story....have a new doctor now), they told me I wasn't pregnant anymore.
I did have cramping similar to a period, sharp pains a few times, and a pulling sensation. On the second day of the MC, it was more painful when I would get up and walk around but nothing that kept me from being able to get up. Biggest symptom was that I was really really tired. Like more tired than when I was pregnant. Definitely listen to your body and sit down if you need to.
