Bland Diet Recipes

I've discovered my morning sickness is more controlled with a low fat, low sodium, and high carb diet. But there aren't a lot of resources for recipes. I thought it might be cool to share what makes our tummies happy.

Mixed Berry and Greek Yogurt Smoothie:
1 banana
1 cup fat free Greek yogurt (I use Fage)
2 heaping spoonfuls of raw honey
1/4 cup water
2 cups of frozen mixed berries

Yields two servings.

I made this up the other day and it works wonders! The yogurt and berries are a little sour, which instantly calms the queasies. Also, the active cultures and fiber are great for regularity.

Tip: add ingredients in order... If you start with the berries, the blender has a harder time mixing.

I drink one in the morning with a sesame bagel and the other I either take to work or drink when I get home.

  • Preggo Hot Totty

    2 cups water
1 nub of ginger (about 1-1.5 inches, washed, roughly chopped, and unpeeled)
    1 small lemon
    1 TBS honey

    Yields two servings.

Bring water to roaring boil in small saucepan. Turn down heat to low and add ginger. Simmer for about 2 minutes and strain into a container to remove ginger. Squeeze in lemon juice and stir in honey.

Helps with nausea better than ginger ale. Drink occasionally. Ginger is "likely" safe but information is not conclusive. Best not to overdo it.
