As I'm getting to you know you all better and better, I'm finding you to be even more fun and resourceful (and interested in facial hair!) than I could ever hoped for .
So to my favorite ladies and fellow readers, what are you reading? Books specific to BOTB or books to keep your mind off of BOTB?
For me, I just finished reading What To Expect What You're Expecting pretty much cover-to-cover and just received What To Expect Before You're Expecting in the mail to read next. I like to do thorough research on things when I'm planning for them. (I read a lot of books about marriage during my 2 year engagement haha. I'm not sure that much of it ended up being super applicable for my experience, but it made me feel prepared at the time.)
After getting through all of these "baby books," I might look to lighten it up. Look forward to finding out what you ladies are reading.
And for those of you who aren't into reading ... or just may not have time ... movie recos are always super welcome too!
I like to read and do very, very thorough research as well! My whole family calls me the researcher. I research the shit out of whatever comes my way, haha!
I'm currently reading Girl on a Train... totally not TTC-related. Although I finished Taking Charge of Your Fertility about a month ago and 100% preferred it to What to Expect Before You're Expecting, so give that one a try if you haven't already!
Thanks for the input @LavenderBrown1018 - I'll check out TCOYF, especially if you think it's better. I really enjoyed What To Expect so anything better must be really great!

I enjoyed Girl on a Train! What do you think so far? Have you read any of Gillian Flynn's books?
@cookies754 I just started it and am liking it so far! I've read Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn yearssss ago and didn't love it (I might be the only person on Earth, super UO). It was the first time in my life I enjoyed a movie more than a book. So I've been hesitant about her other book(s).. Don't know if she's written more than the other one, I think it's something like Dark Places?
I got Taking Charge of Your Fertility yesterday, so I'm pretty eager to start reading it!
I normally read fiction, but right now I am actually reading a true crime book with an interesting name:
God'll cut you down: The Tangled Tale of a White Supremacist, a Black Hustler, a Murder, and How I Lost a Year in Mississippi.
So far it's pretty interesting. Not so much the true crime part, but the whole white supremacy thing and how racism is apparently still a very big issue some places, I find very interesting. In a totally crazy and repulsive way, of course.
I volunteer in a used books store, and get 50% off already cheap books. So I tend to just grab something pretty random, and have had a lot of interesting reads going a bit outside my normal book choices.
I havent read anything yet but tcoyf will be the first when i start. im halfway through the business of being born on netflix and ive listened to a few ina may gaskin interviews and a ted talk while i was at work. Im really hoping if/when baby happens be as intervention free/natural/whatever you care to call it as possible so im really into learning about it and what my options are now. Birth and pregnancy are so fascinsting in general i love learning about them!
@Hulabalu you know, I don't remember lol! I think she discussed some study about it. I've been on a baby reading kick and I got some suggestions from the TTGP board and found some on my own. Reading makes me feel like I am doing something, even if that's not really the case
I have a YouTube suggestion - I posted this a couple of months ago, but will recommend again - If you have about an hour to watch something so incredibly fascinating, you should definitely check out "The Great Sperm Race." It's one of the best documentaries about conception.
I didn't even think about TTC books! I will definitely have to look those books up, Thank you for the suggestions ladies! I am definitely a book lover. Right now I'm reading the five love languages. It's a really great read.
Very much recommend TCOYF! I really wish I read it even before TTC. It turns out, I knew NOTHING of how my body worked.
I just finished up the song of ice and fire series (aka...Game of Thrones) and my mind is blown. Best series of books I've ever read. Now I'm reading the Crossfire Series (don't judge...). It's supposed to be better than 50 Shades

Yep! Dark Places and Sharp Objects. I enjoyed both and Gone Girl.
I have done TCOYF and LOTS of reading on from links I found on pinterest re: breastfeeding/various new parent topics. They also have some great "10 Books to Read While Pregnant" lists.
I also love to research the crap out of every thing; it makes me feel more prepared for what's to come. If you haven't read the "Postpartum Awareness" thread over on the TTGP board: I recommend a little gander. It's real life accounts of people's pregnancy and birth/postpartum experiences (WARNING: SO much TMI, but all useful). Of course some of those are extreme cases but still interesting to read!
I was hesitant to read "What to Expect" but decided to order it and give it a try. I had heard from some people that it made them worry over many things that were not necessary to worry about. I'll see how I like it when it arrives from Amazon in the next couple of days!
I plan on reading a few others while pregnant too: Happiest Baby on the Block and a few other general baby/parenting books.
I read the first two chapters from what to expect when your expecting, but I stopped reading it for now. Since I'm TTC in december the phrase "the test results are back... You're having a baby!" just sounds so far away. My SO and I are keeping in mind that it will probably take about 6 months before conceiving. Hopefully that thought will make it easier handling the disappointment once we get our first (and probably a bit more) BFN.
Since I was little, I was a bit of a researcher. I loved getting encyclopedia's and books about history, the universe, how things work etc. So although I'm already "researching", I like to keep it at a minimal atm. I know that unfortunate events can happen during pregnancy and I don't wanna think about the delivery at all at this point. Ignorance can be a blessing, especially since I'm not unfamiliar with the "gift" of seeing disasters waiting to happen everywhere if I want too (and mostly if I don't). Caused me a lot of trouble during gymnastics. So I don't wanna freak myself out before the future baby is inside me.
I too feel I need to keep my focus off pregnancy issues, and definitely not think or reading about of giving birth at this point! The "Postpartum Awareness" on the TTGP board is not going to happen either. I can't risk to freak myself out so much I don't dare to TTC. When I'm pregnant, and there is "no going back", I can start to look at all those scary things )
