dealing with heart murmur post-delivery

My doctor is concerned that the extra blood flooding my system post-delivery will cause my heart to go into failure. I was born early, with a hole in my heart. She wants me to get additional screening from a cardiologist who can be present at the hospital she delivers at to handle any post-delivery issues that may arise. Has anyone else with a murmur been through this already? What was your experience like? What sorts of additional screening did your ob want the cardiologist to do? What happened after you delivered and how did they handle it?
