Spinal tap on babies?

I know a few of you mamas have been through it with your LOs in the hospital, those of you that had to deal with spinal taps was it extremely difficult? We have been to two different hospitals with 4 different doctors today and they haven't been able to get anything! It is so frustrating and I hate that she is having to go through this over and over for basically nothing! They said we will try again in a few days, now it's just a waiting game..

  • Keep us posted momma..still praying.
  • When my son was in the NICU, they attempted a spinal one day, couldn't get anything, and then they were successful on the second attempt the next day.
  • It took 2 tries recently on my niece. The doctor said it isn't as painful for them as it is for adults who have it done. If that eases you any. I am so sorry you are going through this. Hang in there Momma, you will all be home soon. God Bless.
  • They were able to get Camden's on the first try but had to take multiple vials as it was cloudy the first few tries.

  • Thanks ladies! Hopefully we're just having an "off day" then!
  • My cousin's baby had to keep having them done because she was so severely dehydrated. It's so heartbreaking when our babies hurt. Mine still had her little bruise from an iv last Saturday. I'm so tired of my baby getting stuck.

Ugh.They managed to get DD's on the first try. It had some blood they told me but still totally usable. She was lucky, the doctor who admitted her is super skilled at doing spinal taps on babies.Hopefully they can get something usable soon so they don't have to keep redoing it for your LO.
  • I haven't experienced this but T&ps mama! Sorry you & LO have to go through this
