DS1 was in the 150s the entire time and DS2 was in the 130s.  So no truth here.  This one's in the 170s.

  • Weeks: 13 (last week of the first tri!!!!!)

What's something new you are doing for baby? I'm still too scared to buy anything. I feel like if I fully allow myself to embrace it, I'll jinx it.

What's new with baby? Well the app says it's supposed to be a peach size. I disagree. I think 3" is lemon sized.

Symptoms/Rants/Raves: freaking morning sickness has switched to the evening and oh dear lord my gurgling tummy is driving me nuts.

Questions: Anyone else feel scared to buy or prepare for baby?

GTKY: What makes you happiest about Fall? (Recipes welcome)
PUMPKIN!!! I love pumpkin everything. I love sweater and leggings weather. I love that mosquitos and bees are going away for the year!! Yay!!

  • Weeks: 15!

What's something new you are doing for baby? Invested in some belly bands & stopped buttoning my pants, lol. Tried to get some new bras too but stupid destination maternity doesn't carry anything above a D.

What's new with baby? Orange sized. Legs are now longer than arms!

Symptoms/Rants/Raves: Is having to wake up every 2-3 hours in the middle of the night to pee supposed to be practice or something? I need my sleep!!!

Questions: When you wake up in the middle of the night hungry, do you get up and eat something, or go back to sleep? I can never decide what to do.

GTKY: What makes you happiest about Fall? (Recipes welcome) I cannot wait until it cools off here in LA so I can have some soup! All I've wanted for weeks is butternut squash soup.
  • @soxfan9968 I'm still scared to buy things or tell anyone. I thought once I heard the heartbeat today I would feel better, but I still want to wait and not jinx it.

I have an amazing pumpkin chili crockpot recipe. But I won't share it till Saturday when my ticker changes. ;)

    DS1 was 158

Baby girl is consistently at 169 for now so the 150s were boys for me above that I got a girl. Not sure if heart rate is really an indicator though.
  • Weeks: 15

What's something new you are doing for baby?
We went to Babies R Us and picked out bedding and browsed around. I also got a Snoogle pillow?
What's new with baby? Baby is the side of an orange and is practicing breathing.

Symptoms/Rants/Raves: still really tired but I had fewer headaches this week!

GTKY: What makes you happiest about Fall? (Recipes welcome) I love waking up with the windows open and feeling that chill in the air! Also, hoodies, hot cocoa, and bonfires. Plus fall brings us closer to all of the Holidays! October- December is my fave!
  • Weeks: 14w, 4d

What's something new you are doing for baby? Learning to rest and not over-do it. Frustrating.

What's new with baby? I think it's a lemon this week.

Symptoms/Rants/Raves: The sciatic pain is out of control. I'm pretty much glued to the couch. Nausea is gone, though. Still random, painful gassiness. Still waiting for the stupid SCH to go away.

Questions: If you had a subchorionic hematoma, how long did it take for it to go away? Mine was discovered at just shy of 10 weeks, and still hasn't changed in size at all. I'm getting nervous that it's taking so long.

GTKY: What makes you happiest about Fall? (Recipes welcome) I've confessed before that fall isn't my favorite, but I was excited to pull out my cute boots this week. I'm also looking forward to comfort food and crockpot meals. We don't have AC, so I make a lot of sandwiches, cold pasta salads, etc. during the hot summer months. Can't wait for chili, soup, casseroles, and homemade bread!

March 2016 January Siggy: Pregnant Lady Problems
  • @mrspepper05 I had one that was noted at my first U/S at 6 weeks 5 days - I think she said it was a quarter inch long. It was still there at a follow-up U/S at 9 weeks and had not grown, but not gotten any smaller either. I had another follow-up U/S yesterday at 12 weeks 2 days and the doc said it's all but gone and in the final process of reabsorbing. So it took quite a while (about 6 weeks) but it is practically gone!

  • Weeks:  16!!!

What's something new you are doing for baby?  We are talking to her more (I call it a her, we don't know yet), and now that school is in session, we are letting DD pick out some of my preschool books to read to my tummy/her at night.  She should be able to at least hear my voice, but big sis wants in on the action too :)

What's new with baby? Not much other than I can feel her moving a little :)  our next appointment is 9/23 in the pm.

Symptoms/Rants/Raves: "Snissing" on a regular basis now, and hemorrhoids!

    Questions:  None.

GTKY: What makes you happiest about Fall? (Recipes welcome):  First of all, the fact that I won't swelter in this heat anymore once Fall gets here!!!  Second, being able to pick apples for apple bread, visiting our local cider mill for an apple cider slushie and donuts!!!  And- although this kinda goes back to number 1- I will be able to dress more comfortably!  Seriously just this morning- I put on my gray capris (not maternity) and now the rubber band trick is no longer working!  The rubber band flew off my pants!  I can't wear pants/anything else yet, because it is still way too hot (and even hotter/stagnant in my office), but I don't want to buy shorts or capris that I will get to wear for another 2 weeks at best. I'm stuck in that limbo of waiting so I can bust out my stretchy pants and long sleeved shirts!

What's something new you are doing for baby? Getting ready to start cleaning up baby's bedroom. We just moved, and it's been serving as storage for now.

What's new with baby? Size of a large lemon, starting to make faces!

Symptoms/Rants/Raves: lots of RLP, tired and grouchy sometimes. Occasional nausea but much improved.

Questions: I'm curious to know if anyone else is deciding not to do genetic testing. We're not, because we're keeping it regardless and I don't want the extra stress of worrying. But that's just me.

GTKY: What makes you happiest about Fall? Halloween decorations, and pie.

    Weeks: 15

What's something new you are doing for baby? Oh man, I haven't been doing much... Still haven't announced on Facebook, still haven't bought anything... Oh, well I did buy a maternity dress and a belly band since my pants are starting to cut painfully into my belly. That counts! First baby-related purchase!

    What's new with baby?
Apparently the baby can hear me now. A website told me I was probably singing and talking to him/her already and I was like... "uh, no..." Should I be?? I don't know what to say! I talk all day at work so it's not like he/she won't hear my voice at all.

Symptoms/Rants/Raves: Headaches are mostly subsided, and the exhaustion is pretty rare now. Nipples are now SUPER itchy though. :(

GTKY: What makes you happiest about Fall? It's funny, because I live in Hawaii and it's like, fall? What's fall? My little hibiscus bush hasn't stopped flowering since I moved here a year and a half ago. There is ONE thing, though, that always reminds me the seasons are changing (at least somewhere else)... these guys!

    image

Pacific Golden Plovers show up! They live in Alaska in spring/summer and they winter elsewhere, with some of them making the long, long flight to Hawaii. They're cute little birds and one of the few "native" species I get to see here ("native" as in, occurring here naturally, though they aren't from Hawaii). Almost all the other birds on the island are from Brazil, India, Japan, North America, you name it. The ecosystem here has been drastically changed by humans.

  • Weeks: 16

What's something new you are doing for baby? DH and I made our first, exploratory trip to a baby store last weekend. Whoa.  Color me overwhelmed.  On the plus side, our friend is giving us her infant car seat, and we know what stroller and crib we're getting so that makes me feel better.

    What's new with baby?
Avocado!  She waved at me during my sonogram yesterday :) Also, had my first experience of someone giving me their seat on the subway last night!

    Symptoms/Rants/Raves: Not much, thankfully.

GTKY: What makes you happiest about Fall? Everything! The weather, the clothes, the food, the football.  Love fall.
  • Weeks: 15 and counting!

What's something new you are doing for baby? Not much. It's our second, so I feel like we still have a ton of time until we truly need to do something. I am pushing myself to stay as active as possible every day and eat clean most of the time.

What's new with baby? Baby is now the size of a naval orange. Nothing really new, just waiting until my next prenatal appointment on the 25th.

Symptoms/Rants/Raves: Symptoms are still there, including the food aversions, the nausea after eating (especially sweet stuff or larger meals), the fatigue hits me bad most nights with shivers included. Getting up to go to the bathroom about 5 times a night and the weird dreams. I have 5-7 most nights that I can recall. Half the time I can't tell if I'm actually sleeping and dreaming or just thinking weird dreams. But I feel good in the mornings, so I must be getting enough sleep.
    Questions: None right now.

GTKY: What makes you happiest about Fall? (Recipes welcome): Not my favorite season typically, but I have been getting more excited as I need to update my wardrobe for Fall. Shopping is my therapy right now. Bootes, jackets, sweaters, leggins....love. And s'mores by a bonfire. I've been waiting for the cooler nights just to have that with a sip of wine.

We are not getting any genetic tests done. We didn't with our first pregnancy either. We also agreed that we would never have an abortion, so why bother.

We have a meeting with a genetic counselor scheduled because my husband has a genetic heart condition. It's not a question of terminating a pregnancy for us, but about having the chance to mentally prepare and learn for any potential challenges we might face. We like to plan ahead, and I think it's connected to all of that.

I totally understand wanting to be prepared, finding support groups and such. I'm not familiar with how genetic heart conditions are diagnosed in the womb- is it something that could be seen on an ultrasound? I guess, for things like Downs Syndrome, the test can't give you more than a percent chance that the baby might have it and I'd rather not worry unnecessarily. However, if DH or I had a known genetic issue, I guess I would want to look into it.

I grew up with a sister with mental and physical disabilities and before becoming a SAHM I was a Special Education teacher, so I know that when a child it born with a disability, (or develops a disability later in life) parents feel a sense of loss no matter how prepared and educated they are about it. As moms and dads, as soon as we get that BFP we automatically begin imagining what our baby will be like and what we will be able to share with them. When you find out your baby has a disability those dreams and ideas begin to disappear and parents can actually go through the stages of grief that one goes through when someone dies. Sorry, that was long winded! I studied and wrote a few papers on the topic of grief in parents (and siblings) of disabled children in grad school, so I know it's a sensitive, difficult topic and there is no right or wrong way to go through it; whether knowing before birth or not helped, etc... I guess I don't want to experience any grief or loss unnecessarily, and since the test can't give a definitive answer, I don't want the stress. But, like I said before, if I had a genetic condition, and it could be determined accurately whether or not the baby had it then I would want to know.

I wish you luck with the counselor. Praying for a healthy little baby for you!!
