NBR: 8 months and evacuated due to fire!

A huge fire broke out around where I live yesterday, and we woke up to a mandatory evacuation this morning. Towns around the lake where I live are gone, so many homes burned, farms and animals lost. They don't even have a count yet for people who were trapped. I'm so sad for everyone who's homes have been lost and for everyone who's homes are now in danger. I was able to grab basically all babies stuff, besides her crib and dresser, so glad to have the majority of it. As I'm sitting at my boyfriend parents I realized I have no idea what I grabbed for myself or where it's at. This is scary stuff. I just hope it doesn't jump the hwy and get to our house...and hopefully we can move back in in a few days and don't lose everything we had to leave behind. My poor cat is scared to death and has no idea why she's locked in her little carrier. It's completely black everywhere and raining ash. 0% contained and over 40,000 acres burned since it started around 2 yesterday. Anyway, I'm just sitting here feeling helpless and trying to pass the time.

Keeping you in my thoughts and praying that you are able to move back to your house and my cat hated being in her crate but if we had to go somewhere she would just run off so I had to have her in it.. Does she have a favorite kind of cat treat or canned cat food that she gets as a treat? Maybe get her some so she can know everything is ok and it's only temporary

  • Goodness gracious! Praying everyone in your area was able to evacuate safely.
I sure hope your house remains safe!

  • Are you talking about the fires near Napa?
  • Oh gosh, what a scary time. I hope everyone's safe and you can go home soon. Thinking of you.
  • Oh, I hope everything works out. I'm so sorry you are having to go through this. I can't imagine how it must be for you. At least you are safe. Everything else is replaceable.

  • I'm glad you and your family are ok and i am keeping your home in my thoughts
  • I'm so so sorry to hear this, I don't live in the evacuated area but I'm close enough (and in highly flammable pine woods) that we were up in the middle of the night keeping an eye on the developments. The degree to which it spread so quickly is terrifying and I'm glad you have safely evacuated. Will keep my fingers crossed that you can go home to everything as you left it. All my thoughts are with you, and please keep us posted!!!
  • I'm so sorry, that's terrifying! I hope they can get the fire under control soon.

  • Glad you guys are okay. Keeping y'all in my T&Ps.
  • That is scary, I'm so glad you and your family got out safely and I really hope your home is okay.
  • That sounds awful, very sorry to hear!! Hope things get under control soon and everyone stays safe!!!
  • Praying for everyone. Prayers to your family and that your home stays safe.
  • First off, happy to hear you guys (and kitty) are okay! Second, I'm so sorry you're dealing with that kind of stress and trauma right now. Stay calm and keep us posted!
  • Oh no! My BIL is a firefighter engineer in Nor Cal and has been called to the fire in San Andreas. Were getting periodic updates from him and it looks scary! The firefighters are working so hard to keep homes safe, hope you get good news soon and can go back home!
  • Omg. I'm so sorry for you guys and all the families up there. Hopefully it will all get under control soon. For now it must feel like you're stuck in a bad dream.
  • That sucks, but at least least you're ok. Hoping things clear up for you soon!
  • Oh no that's awful! Glad the family is safe! As shitty as things may be things are replaceable but you are not. Hoping the fire stays away from your house.
  • So scary! I hope it gets under control soon. Stay safe!
  • I'm glad u and ur family are safe! This literally brought tears to my eyes I can't imagine how frightening and stressful that is. You'll be in my thoughts and I also hope u can go back home soon. I seen something on the news about the evacuations but u don't really think anything of it unless u "know" someone in the situation. You'll be in my thoughts today
  • Yikes - glad you are safe! Hoping your home stays clear as well!

  • Must be the Butte fire, I can't imagine the stress! Don't worry, the important thing is you and your family are fine. You will have a good story for your daughter someday.
  • So sorry you're dealing with this. We are right in between the two fire zones (lake and butte) so we are just getting the ash, and even that is awful. Sending good thoughts your way.
  • Oh my goodness! Talk about putting things in perspective. Glad you're OK - sending Ts&Ps your way.
  • I am so sorry to hear this is happening to you and your family!! So happy you all are safe including your kitty. Praying for you!! Please keep us posted.

  • I'm so sorry this is happening to you. I hope everything turns out well. I'm glad you're safe.
If there's something strange underneath the hood.  Who you gonna call?  Your Doctor.  If there's something weird and it don't look good.  Who you gonna call?  Your Doctor.  Immediately.  If it's new, painful, and possibly pregnancy related get your ass off the internet and call your doctor.  It's for your health and your child's.

  • So sorry you have to deal with this now. The most important thing is that you are all safe. Hope they put it out soon and you get to go back to your home.
  • Thoughts and prayers to you and your family. I am glad to hear you are all safe!

Aw I'm so sorry. I know the feeling. There have been a few fires that have burned homes in my hometown and surrounding area. Evacuating is hard and really stressful. It's always a little weird to see what you grab too. Glad you and your family (including kitty!) were able to evacuate safely.
  • Oh no, this is awful...Lake fire, same as the the Valley fire here in CA? Our whole state is on fire and it is so terrifying, we almost lost our home in July to one of these wild fires so I feel the devastation you are feeling right now, I pray your family & home are safe.
  • @tayzav - any updates?

  • Ah bless your heart! I am so sorry you have to go through this...super scary stuff! I live one county over and my son's dad hasn't been able to go home since the fire started (he lived up there.) Thank goodness you were able to grab kitty and some basics. Crossing everything for you that your house survives and you can go home soon! Xoxo
