Are any of you mamas experiencing teething at 2 months!? My 2 month old started drooling and now he started chewing on his fist and arm after I nursed him. I thought he was hungry still but after offering him my breast he didn't want more milk. He also got his shots this week, I thought he would suck on his hand for comfort or something and I asked they doctor but she said he's too young. Is he a little too young to begin teething and also I tried giving him the pacifier and he didn't take it (he's not a big fan of them) what else can I give him for him to chew on!?

Re: Teething

  • Google it...I did. Sounds like there's quite a range most babies start to get teeth between four and six months, some can go earlier as early as 2 to 3 months or some late bloomers don't get their first teeth till closer to one year-old

  • Mine does the same.. I asked his doctor she said it is possible to teethe at 2 months! Wow our babies are ahead of things!

    ;)
  • My daughter is also 2 months and is doing the same! Her mouth is a faucet and constantly has her fingers/hands/arm in her mouth. Breastfeeding and teeth don't sound particularly enjoyable!
  • mine started to drool today a little. i still haven't looked to see if he is teething but he's been a little cranky today so it wouldn't surprise me!
  • Mine has been doing this too. I asked the doctor today and he said that they show signs of teething way before they typically get any teeth. According to him we still have a couple of months before teeth, but lots of drool before them.
  • Yes @randa923 sounds like my LO. Lots of drool.

Also think part of it is discovering hands can go in mouth & drool is just a consequence
  • LO started drooling a lot and is biting his hand rather than sucking on it which he usually does. He's also been fussy so I'm thinking there's a possibility teething has started. He's almost 9 weeks.

My sister was born with teeth! (Rare, but it happens) - so I'm never surprised anymore when I hear people say their babies are teething so early. Most babies "pre-teeth" where they have all the symptoms of teething but no actual teeth pop up.
  • My son also had his shots this week at his two month appt and dos fine until yesterday with bouts of screaming and was inconsolable no matter what we did. He can't keep his hands or arms out of his mouth and won't stop eating either. I noticed when he's sleeping he's smacking his gums together. The pediatrician said two months was too young to teethe but I read that teething follows family history and I cut my first tooth by three months so I believe the teething is a real thing this early!

My DS was 11 months old before he cut his first tooth, our pediatrician also said there is a huge range of what is normal.
  • Our pediatrician said it's normal and doesn't always mean they're teething.
