July 2015 Moms

Missing out

LO is 6 weeks old and I'm back at work now. I was just recently offered another job that pays really well so I couldn't say no. So I'll cut back on my current job to 20hrs, and work 20 hrs at the new job. Which means there may be days I'm working in the mornings, coming home for a few hours and then going to work nights. I just started work this week but can already tell it's affecting my 4&2 yr old and I miss my baby so much already.
Any other moms working a lot? And if so, how are you handling it?

Re: Missing out

  • Are you in an industry where you can do some work from home?

  • I am back to work 40 hours a week. DH works 48 hours a week. We make it work, even though it's tough and we both have guilt from working.
  • At least you get some hours in the daytime with them. I work 40-50 hours/week so by the time I pick up LO from grandma's house it's basically time for a bath/nurse/go to sleep. It sucks but I would not be able to SAH, I need an adult job to keep me sane. Well, and that whole paycheck thing ;) Just going to really have to make weekends count!!
  • I'm a teacher, so I leave LO pretty much right after she wakes up and I get about 2 hours with her when I get home before it's time for bath and bed. MIL watches her in my house and sends me pics and videos throughout the day. I feel like I miss all the smiles, laughs, and playtime.
  • I'm getting sad reading these posts...I already feel like I miss out when I leave her for just an hour or two so I can't even imagine being gone all day. I'm going back to work but not for a little while yet. I never thought I'd want to be a stay at home mom but OMG do I ever..unfortunately not possible :(

This will be my life starting tomorrow. I've been crying all weekend!
  • @remember17 I do as much work as I can at school during lunch and preps (while pumping) so I can spend all my time on the weekend with baby.
