  • We'll be doing genetic testing at 12 weeks and will choose to find out the sex at that time.
  • Loading the player...
  • At the ultrasound. While a reveal party would be kinda cool, DH are kinda private people so I think we want to find out and have it to ourselves for a little bit first.

    Welllllll, what are you having??
  • Since we should be finding out just before Christmas I think I want to have the u/s tech write it in a card and seal it so we can open it Christmas morning

    Us too! I'm so excited!

It will definitely take a ton of patience. I'll have to schedule the u/s very close to Christmas or I'll be an anxious wreck!

Hmm. This sounds fun. Depending on when our scan is I might do this. If it will be too long to wait, no bc I'll go crazy. I think with my timeframe though it might not be too far off. If not for us then maybe we'll find out and just tell family that way.

Once I get in to see the OB, DH and I were planning on finding out via ultrasound. But depending on how soon they can see it, if they can tell before Christmas, we might steal the idea of having it sealed in an envelope for opening on Christmas morning! That's an awesome idea and a great gift for both of us. :) I hope yours works out so that you can do what you're planning!!!

Congratulations! I agree, boys are lots of fun-- but also very kind. My little guy is super sweet after he's tired from being all wound up and gives awesome hugs, cuddles, and kisses. When I'm upset, he'll pat my head or shoulder and give me a kiss. I think sometimes boys get a bad wrap for being mess-monsters.
  • I wanted to be Team Green since this baby is our last but DH is insisting on finding out. I can't wait to be able to tell DD if she is having a brother or sister.

20wks is Christmas day so I'm hoping to get an appt that week and do something for DD for Christmas morning.
  • I didn't even think of the Christmas timing! Great idea to open on Christmas morning. So cute!

I plan on doing genetic testing, they have a cool new testing called Cell-free fetal DNA analysis, which takes blood from mom, so no real risk to the baby. It screens for multiple genetic issues and can tell you the gender :) My only issue since I am low risk I will probably have to pay out of pocket for it, but I think soo worth it.

  • I want to be Team Green so bad! However, being a sonographer and having a lot of sonographer friends might make it challenging. Hoping it works out though.

Oh @autumnlynne1221 Finally a sonographer in the BMB's! yay you can help debunk all the "sonographry will give your baby autism" crap that always comes up at around the 20 week mark. Not a sonographer, but a Radiographer so those posts always drive me bonkers!

ETA: have you heard about the Ramzi's method and what do you think of it????
    Angel baby June 2013, DD born 22 April 2014, BFP 10 Sept 2015 - Due 22 May 2016
  • @avidkeo Oh yes I've had so many patients ask about Ramzi's. I honestly don't think it holds a lot of credibility but I haven't really followed patient records that closely to investigate it either. There's just to many variables such as uterus placement anteflexed or retroflexed and yolk sac location could be perfectly anterior or posterior which complicates the theory. It's fun for patients though cause I'm not telling gender till 18 weeks at the earliest. Thank goodness most of our patients have the genetic testing done around 9 weeks so it's usually asked out of fun and not the desperate need to start shopping.
