TTC after 35

My heart's just not in it anymore

Hey ladies,

Put a fork in me, I'm done. My heart is just not in this game anymore. I'm tired to tracking everything, analyzing my body's every twinge and tweak, wasting money I barely have on OPKs/HPTs/all that jazz. I can't do the anxiety of waking up to temp anymore and sex has just become a chore - doesn't help poor DH is now struggling with ED bc of the pressure. I just have decided to throw in the towel. When we first started, I said no drugs or alternative methods and I still feel that way. I'm conceeding that it just wasn't meant to be.

I hope everyone is okay if I stay creepy and lurk around. I am still cheering for you all and show my support as I've enjoyed being here.

Best of luck to you all,

Knottie-somenumber

So sorry Knottie! How long have you been trying?
I completely understand how you feel. In fact, I am trying to focus on optimizing my health instead of conceiving. Mentally, it clears part of the anxiety that comes with this journey and it helps me a little.
I wish you and your DH all the best moving forward!

  • @Knottie16743552 my heart is going out to you. I'm so sorry.
The ED I truly believe is a bi-product of ttc for too long. My SO is 29 and for the first time in 3.5 years we have faced this twice this week (right in my fertile window.)
I'm feeling undesired, incapable of conceiving, and questioning everything.

We've been ttc for 13mo. now...two losses back to back last December and this April.
I'm probably not giving a rosy picture of why to keep trying, but I hope I'm helping you feel understood.
Sometimes a month or two off to focus on yourself and your health as @BulgariHeart has mentioned, may change your outlook considerably.
    I'm so sorry.
Please lurk and comment and feel free to change your mind at any time about anything.
Sending you lots of support xoxo

  • Just want to say I'm sorry and I totally understand. This entire process is draining, depressing, and extremely difficult.
Like others, my DH is also struggling with ED. It is an awful thing to add to everything else.
I hope you can take some time for yourself. Thinking of you. Take care.

  • @Knottie16743552 it's def a tough decision wishing you & your DH happiness & time to really enjoy each other. We make ourself & partners batty every cycle with the supplements, testing, temping and all the other shenanigans. This cycle for the first time my DH also had a ED moment. Thank goodness for us it was after I O, but at the time I didn't know that I O already. See you around
  • This whole ttc thing is definitely an exhausting process. You gotta do what's right for you. You never know what will happen or what the future holds. Sending you lots of support as you move onward. And yes, please do stick around!

  • It IS way too much pressure. And it can be exhausting, especially if you're both working and BD has to be scheduled multiple times during the week. Totally understand and hope that you find peace with wherever your path takes you.

  • Awww...I understand, but it makes me sad.  You were one of my favorites.

Do what you need to do for your happiness and well-being. Hugs to you, my friend.

  • Hi Knottie.  Sorry to see you go and wishing you the best.

  • I'm sorry that it's been so hard, but understand completely.  You have to do what's best for you and your husband- the pressure of all of this definitely creates tension, and takes some fun out of things.  If you should change your mind, we're here.  If not, I wish you all the best as you move forward.
  • @Knottie16743552 Sorry to see you go. This whole process is so emotionally taxing and I think we can all relate to where you're at. Take care of yourself and your DH, and please stick around as long as you like. Sending you love and peace.
