My husband and I have been TTC for three years. I just turned 39.
My period was every 28 days, OPK's were good each month.
We were told my husband had sperm issues, volume and density and motility. A urologist was seen for a second opinion, he said the numbers weren't so bad, he's seen pregnancies happen with worse.
In the meantime, last September I was sent for an HSG. It showed my tubes to be completely blocked. We were referred to a fertility clinic for procedures we couldn't afford and were beyond devastated.
I had two months this summer without a period. I seen a different doctor in my OB office. She thought I was annovulatory. Tests were ordered...my thyroid was low and my sugar was high. I was started on synthroid and metformin. My period came back.
She wanted to repeat the HSG. I spent the night before the test, Googling images and driving myself crazy.
I went for my second HSG. I laid there and watched as the dye came through. I couldn't believe what I was seeing! The doctor told me it did go through, beautifully! He said he didn't think the dye pushed anything through because of how fast it came through! I bawled my eyes out! I was shocked.
My doctor is talking about starting me on Clomid. Still waiting to get in to see her. Going to try to get the husband on it too. Will post updates.
I told the technician at the hospital though - for the heartbroken that are trying - try another doctor, try another HSG. Don't let people just point you in another direction!
Re: 2nd HSG Successful
I urged for a laparoscopy and they refused. The same office did one in 2004...for some reason they just shot it down this time.
