I have a high risk pregnancy and I am over the age of 35 so my doctor has put me on bed rest till the end of September. She is sending me to all kind of specialists. If that doesn't freak me out enough, I had a not so amazing conversation with a lady at the grocery store yesterday. She processed to tell me all her horror stories about her 4 births and then she slapped me in the face with what she thought was a compliment (I guess). I only told her I was 18 weeks pregnant and she said "wow, you are do big already!" Then she went on and on about how I sm overweight and its not good for the baby. Well if I wasn't on bed rest, then I would be working and working out. She made me feel like a beached whale, so I began to cry and left the store immediately. Why are some women so cruel?

Pregnancy and babies eliminates some folks' filters completely. Either you are "so big" or "so tiny" depending on who you talk to (why is my body suddenly up for evaluation?). Everyone will tell you SOMETHING that you are messing up. In one ear and out the other.
I'm sorry she made you cry. Hang in there.

If some lady in the grocery store starts talking to you again you may be less likely to give up information that is not of her business. Try shutting her down by distracting her with an invitation to blab about herself -- "thanks for your interest, you are so kind -- where are you off to next today?" "Oh really, do you live in town?" "Wow you are so friendly, do you have a big family?" Works every time for me. People aren't actually interested in others anyways. They just want to get attention and feel important.
Sorry you are going through such a difficult pregnancy. You are doing what you have to do and it will all be worth it in the end. Hang in there.
