When my doc suggested the testing due to my age, I was totally willing to do it. Also finding out the gender earlier would be a plus for me. So I did some research on the test an ran across some professionals argueing that if peeps found out that early along that they would possibly end the pregnancy. I can't even imagine someone ending their pregnancy just due to what gender the baby is. This has been bugging the heck out of me. Who would do this????

In India they aren't allowed to reveal period- because they will abort the girls.
Different cultures value boys over girls. This is true in India and China. Its deeply rooted in many aspects of culture that I can't understand having not grown up with that mindset. There are plenty of folks that will terminate for various reasons. I'm not shocked at all because the pressure to conceive sons is so high. There are many things I can't imagine happening to me or life handing me-- but that doesn't mean it shocks me. The world is a very harsh place in very many areas.
