I totes magotes believe in aliens, too. Maybe not the Independence Day variety, but o think it would be naive and a little narcissistic to think we are the ONLY life form.
red3ye and @oceanchild: My FIL is an alien watcher. This spring I kept having head colds and sinus infections so I had a cat scan of my sinuses. Turns out I don't have frontal sinuses and its very rare...also an alien signature. Now my FIL is nervous around me. Thoughts?
Also the only reason we recycle is because its part of the fee for garbage service and if they are going to charge me I might as well do it.
I don't have a frontal sinus either! Gosh... Most likely I am an alien! My doc actually mentioned that up to 10% of people don't have frontal sinuses, so I'm not as atypical as I would like to think.

I actually have a discussion the other day with a stranger at my obgyn office. They were talking religion and some how we got onto aliens. I am a christian, they are christians, but they seemed to feel that you could not be a christian and believe in aliens. Something about "we are God's children" as if that meant that we had to be the only children. I don't want to get into the religion bit, but I felt it was funny, apparently religion means you can't believe in the unknown (haha)
I Just can not handle the "child leash" invention.
I used to think this, and then I had two girls who are bolters, fearless, and tend to run directly towards the street OOFN.
I haven't bought a leash, I just make sure I have an iron grip on the 2 year old whenever we're near roads or whatever. By the time this next bub comes along my youngest will be about 3, and if she's anything like my first crazy daughter things should get easier by then.
However, if my children had been more closely spaced, I'm pretty sure I would have tried that toddler leash contraption out. I don't think I could wrangle a baby, diaper bag, and a fearless insane toddler who apparently has a deathwish all on my own without some help. If that help happened to be in the form of a tether that kept one of my spawn from becoming roadkill, then hey why not?
Leash laws for dogs are important I get that people love their animals like family but I live on an island where we have leash laws not because of the dog but because we are trying to protect your dog. We have 8 to 9 foot gators on our island and while they have never attacked a human we did have 2 dogs attacked because their owners were idiots and let them loose off there leash and they went near a pond, one survived the other unfortunately died. I don't understand why anyone would blantenly let their dogs loose knowing this. We have signs posted everywhere saying keep animals on a leash keep yourself and children away. Now the owner of the dog that died wants the gator killed and I'm bothered by this since it was only doing what it does in nature had they been a responsible owner the dog would still be alive. It's like getting attacked by a shark in the ocean you should know you are in someone else's habitat if your attacked it's more your fault than the animals. Sorry to rant I just don't understand killing something because of someone's stupidity.
I can't stand when an animal is killed because of another person's stupidity. Did you hear about the guy who said "f the gators" and jumped in, he was promptly killed by said gators. His friends later killed the Gator that attacked him. I will say Gator tail is amazingly good if done the right way. My husband is an avid hunter but also respects animals.

I get hunting as long as you eat it I cant stand trophy hunters that never use the animal. I did see that guy jump in and I was so mad they killed the gator they told him not to he didn't listen and he died can we say Darwin Award winner.
Thankfully the police here fined the family for not having their dog on a leash and the community refused to allow them to kill the gator. When you live here you know that gators are around the marsh and ponds you don't go near those parts they've never been a problem they don't come near humans and we have a reduce that comes and removes gators larger than 9 ft and relocates them.
