Infertility

For those who get BFP in iui, could you please give us some suggestions on how to get BFP in iui?

I had 2 failed iui and will do the 3rd on in September. For those who get BFP in iui, could you give us some suggestions on how to get BFP in iui? Like your medication? The no. Of mature eggs? Timing of the iui? And others you think that contribute to you BFP? Thanks!

  • I don't think anyone can answer this. Each person is different and a lot of times bfps are just random. I've had two iuis with a lot of mature follicles and my husband has great numbers. All of my tests have been coming out great too and still nothing. Good luck to you.
  • Very hard to answer that question, most people on this board are still struggling to get pregnant and with infertility. I would try asking that on the pregnancy after infertility board. Good luck with your upcoming IUI

  • Yeah, I don't think there's a magic recipe. There were so many things different with the cycle where I got my BFP (including a surgery), that I couldn't tell which 'ingredient' made it work.
  • I agree with the others; there's not a magic recipe to make it work.  It may be that your infertility problems have to do with the swimmers not penetrating the egg, that the egg is not sticking to the lining, or that your egg isn't making it down your tubes correctly.  There are many ways that you could be having fertility issues that an IUI won't necessarily resolve.

Also keep in mind that generally IUIs have about a ~15-20% chance of working each cycle.  There's always the possibility of bad luck so far and the third will work out for you. However, if it doesn't, you should probably talk to your doctor about whether continuing with IUIs makes sense.

Good luck!  I hope this next round works for you.
  • @Drove2u @Cupcakegal930 @KidShrink @TheLabyrinth Thank you very much, ladies! I guess I was just too sad about my iui results. I heard that iui success rate decreases dramatically after 4 iui. This makes me very very nervous. I can't make up my mind to do the ivf. Trying to get pregnant is the first thing I think I can not control. I really feel very helpless....

I agree with everyone above, no perfect recipe.

These threads are a good read with some good advice/feedback

April 2016: BFP, the old fashioned way.

  • @babyexpress thank you very much for your information. My situation is kind of different. My DH has delayed ejaculation, so we can't get pregnant on our own. We went to see the RE a couple of month after we get married. All our test results are normal. So we may want to have more iui. I guess no one will try the ivf on their 3rd or 4th month try to conceive. :)
  • @Sarah1516 Gotcha.  GL on the 3rd round!
