TTC After a Loss

Intro and question (warning child mentioned)

Hello ladies, I experienced a chemical pregnancy (early miscarriage) last month which was very sad. My husband and I had decided to not try/not prevent (2nd child) so I was not temping or charting, but I did cheat and take an Ovulation predictor test. My dr. Said no need to take a break this month, so we didn't. Now, I am expecting my period, and even spotted for two days....and then the spotting faded away, and I am having horrible stomache upset- but still no period. Have any of you ladies experienced a very late period after a very early miscarriage? Was it heavier/lighter? I am having some anxiety that I will be standing at work in front of people and it will surprise me.

Re: Intro and question (warning child mentioned)

  • Have you taken a pregnancy test?  It could be just a weird period after having a m/c and you might start later than normal. I hate that first few days when you don't know when AF is going to show up in full force!

  • Thanks for your answer! Yes, I took a test and it was negative....I am now still spotting and no period. Thanks for the support- I am thinking it's just a weird period but I am getting so frustrated!

  • My first period after my d&c was very light, it lasted probably 2 days. My second period seemed more normal in flow and length. I heard that first cycle is sometimes funky.

  • Thanks for the answer- when mine finally came it was heavy with lots of clots but I am glad it finally arrived!
  • My doctor said to expect abnormal cycles for at least three months after a miscarriage. I'm on cycle four and still irregular.

  • My first period after my miscarriage was definitely heavier than normal and lasted a little longer than usual.
