C-Section Rash?

Hi there, I am 7 days PP and I've developed an awful abdominal and pelvic rash. My staples were removed on Fri, but the rash started once the steri strips were applied. It's AWFUL. My nurse said the strips can't be removed for 2 weeks, which I haven't done. The rash is red/purple, raised up and hard to the touch, and itches worse than anything. It's now starting down my thighs and up towards my belly button. I've been using gold bond and that helps for about an hour. During my very limited sleep time ;) I itch it and it bleeds and oozes what looks like water. So freakin weird! Any of you have this? If so, what is it and how are you treating it? Thank you!!!

I had blisters from the steri strips that oozed yellow liquid. I took mine off at day 8 (mine were applied right after surgery). I also had full body hives that started day 7 and went away day 14. The itching continued another week after the hives were gone. I am not sure if they were all related to the steri strips or caused by percocet (1st time i have ever taken it) or if it was a systemic histamine reaction to the sudden drop in estrogen following delivery and my milk coming in. The dr said no lotions or creams would help :(

  • I would call your doctor. When I was discharged, a rash was one of the things on the list of reasons to call. It's probably just a skin reaction to the strips. But it could be a sign of infection. Better to be safe.
