NEWCOMERS:
To be added to the Weekly Checkin, please answer the following:
1. How long have you been TTC?
2. What is your diagnosis?
3. What is your current treatment plan?Question
of the Week: What do you love the most about your job? What do you dislike the most?
Re: TTTC Checkin - 09/07/2015
Last Thursday night, I woke up choking, I couldn't breathe and had a horrible burning, searing feeling in my throat. It scared DH horribly, I've never experienced anything like that. My throat has been burning and sore ever since. Yesterday I went to the non-emergency and learned that I have acid reflux disease and/or GERD. I've never even had heartburn so this is news to me. I'll be going to my regular practitioner this week to schedule for a Barium Swallow and some other tests. I'm really hoping that whatever treatment I get won't interfere with moving forward with IVF.
QOTW: What I love about my work is that I have plenty of downtime and a very strong training program. Which means that I can hang out around here a lot and do online courses! What I don't like about it is the crappy insurance. We switched me over to DH's insurance which is now costing us $430 a month, but what can you do.
Married for 7 years, TTC for 4 years
dx: Diminished Ovarian Reserve
2 Clomid IUI's + 4 injectable IUI's= 5 BFNs and 1 mc
I took a half dose of HCG to trigger yesterday morning, so O is expected tonight or tomorrow morning. My doctor stated there would be no measurable increase in our chances for IUI, so we are sticking with TI. I'm at risk for OHSS, which makes me a little nervous, but I'm proactively drinking Gatorade over water and don't mind increasing my salt intake (I LOVE salty food!). My doctor was closed Sunday morning, so I don't know the exact amount of mature follicles I had. It could range anywhere from 5-10 based on my Saturday monitoring and the rate they were growing each day (I had to go every day Wed to Sat). So, I'm pretty nervous about high order multiples about now, but I'm feeling really good about my chances of pregnancy. I'm going to try to hold out testing until 9/21, but we'll see how long any willpower lasts.
QOTW: I guess I enjoy my hours (9-5), which is pretty golden for being an attorney; what I dislike about being my job is being an attorney. I hate it!
I used to want to be an attorney and even studied for my LSAT right after college. Then my sister who is a patent lawyer invited me to observe her for a week at her job. After the first three hours, I knew that it was NOT for me!! I couldn't believe the cut throat politics at her firm, and immediately noticed that the female lawyers worked twice as hard to get the same status. Hopefully things have changed since then but I was turned off forever...

On CD 16 waiting for ovulation. I ran out of monitor sticks today. 3rd day in a row on high but no peak. Think I may just go to the normal opk. Ovulation signs are present except for the ovum.
Qotw: Nursing school is my job right now. Best thing about it is I should graduate in December. Worst thing about it is being in nursing school and not working.
What I love about my job is that i get to travel the world. What I hate about it is all the travel. Hahaha but really only hate it while going through all the fertility treatments. Otherwise it's pretty awesome. :-)
1. TTC for 13 months/9 cycles
2. DX: PCOS
3. Letrozole and Ovidrel
Currently at the end of my fourth medicated cycle and 3rd IUI. I go for beta tomorrow but FRER this am was a BFN. Very very frustrated right now as I really thought this was our cycle.
GTKY: I love my job but hate some of the people I have to deal with. I'm sure almost everyone can relate!
Dx: hypothyroidism (plus the additional slap of thyroid cancer)
Treatment: currently being treated with synthroid, thyroidectomy on Oct 1, medication adjustments to come (NDT or adding cytomel to dynyhroid). I hope that will do it.
Work:
We moved in April, out of state, for my husbands work.
Back home, my work was so incredibly stressful. I worked with mothers on bonding with their children and making sure their children were well taken care of while they (mom) were in a residential substance abuse program. I loved my job until I had been ttc for a few months with no luck. Then I couldn't do it anymore. The unfairness of it all was killing me.
We were fortunate enough that with my husbands move/promotion, we could afford for me to not work. We thought for sure as soon as the move was over and I didn't have work stress, that conception would come. And then, I could be a stay at home mommy. Our plan was beautiful.
Reality was not.
I went for testing in may and was given diagnosis. In the meanwhile it's a bad time to start looking for a job... "Hey... Hire me... I have cancer and upcoming surgery and radiation... "... Yeah right. But I do want to start working again because well... I feel useless.
Sorry for the novel, but I feel an explanation is necessary for not working without having a child.

Follow the plan of your dr, but you can always do things on your own to help
RE DX for me: Anovulatory cycles/Mild PCOS RE DX for DW: Endometrioma on left Ovary.
Reciprocal Ivf Feb 2016. DW eggs and I am carrying. EDD: 10/27/16
@gardeniagirlknits you don't owe anyone an explanation for why you don't work. We all have battles and I have known other women who don't work with no children. But if you feel useless you could always find ways to volunteer your time. I know libraries sometimes look for volunteers or even a local nursing home. (I work at a nursing home and we always welcome volunteers)
I am in my 2ww and will be testing the end of the week so fx. I have been getting nauseous A LOT lately and having dreams about being pregnant but I'm trying not to get my hopes up because I know it could all be psychological.
QOTW: I am a social worker at a nursing home and I love interacting with residents. The thing I hate about my job is the amount of paperwork that I have to do on a daily basis. Insurance companies, Medicare, and Medicaid have crazy regulations and as a result only about 5% of my time is spent with residents. I am actually considering a job change so I can spend more time with people.
I am a nanny for 11 month twins. I love playing with them, watching them grow, learning how to care for babies, etc. They were conceived through ivf so it is nice to see the light at the end of the tunnel. She is very understanding and I'm sure will be accommodating for me during IF treatments.
The part I don't like (ironically) is being around babies all day. I want my OWN!! I want to see my OWN baby crawl for the first time, or say mama, or be adorable! It just makes me even sadder when I go home and see that empty room. Yes, some days I cry my eyes out while rocking them to sleep because they aren't mine.

Good morning all! I hope everyone had a great Labor Day Weekend. I know I did. I was super busy and it was so nice.
Question of the Week: What do you love the most about your job? What do you dislike the most? I love my job because I am always seeing new and interesting things. I almost never see the same type of situation twice. Right now what I dislike is my acting manager.. She can seem kinda snotty in her e-mails, but she doesn't seem that way in person at all!

@riveridgional GL with the TI! I hope this one works for you.
@Drove2u You're getting close to your beta! Yay! Mine is 9/15.
@gardeniagirlknits You don't owe an explanation as to why you don't work! It's awesome that your DH makes enough that you don't HAVE to work. As far as getting a job, if you can't find someone to hire you maybe you could volunteer at an animal shelter, a library, etc.
@LauraNick2010 I hope you get your BFP! Do you go in for a beta too, or are you just testing at home?

9/15/2015: BFP HCG - 400, 9/17/2015: HCG - 827, 9/21/2015 - HCG 3,327!I hate the hours, I work at least 10 hours everyday. But will be closing daycare in December to focus on getting back to work as a school teacher.
On TWW, also know as 'torture time'.
I love my job because I'm a hospital social worker- but seeing all these kids because of drama, and parental non compliance REALLY stinks! I also cover the mother baby unit, and hearing that moms didn't get PNC b/c they "didn't know they were pregnant" is really starting to bug me! #countertransference!
I am taking 1mg of Estrace vaginally nightly; from cd3-30... Has anyone else done that?
I also lie awake sometimes thinking that I am not going to ovulate on femara-I did on clomid- but my lining was junky?
Did anyone switch from clomid to femara and not o?
We are still in a holding patter until our meeting with our RE on 10/3. Currently we are on vacation and sitting by the beach which honestly is just what the dr ordered, relaxing. Wishing everyone who is currently in the 2WW good luck! @GoldenKeys good luck with your testing, it shouldn't interfere with your IVF plans.
QOTW
I am a public librarian specializing in children's and teen services and I love my job. My favorite job is the interaction I have with the kids and teens each day. The least favorite part of my job would have to be the different personalities that I work with. Some of the other librarians don't like kids and teens and can be very nasty to them. It really bothers me!
